  • Description

    Hello, my name is Beatrix!

I am new to workaway-ing but super excited for many new adventures this year. Having grown up in the Australian bush with an assortment of animals (horses, chickens, dogs, cats, goats, cows, sheep), I am happy to jump into new tasks, learn new skills and get my hands dirty when needed! I love working with people and animals alike, from hospitality work to babysitting and disability care, I really enjoy connecting with new people and am super comfortable around families of all shapes and sizes.

I also really enjoy art and reading, as well as hiking and rock-climbing. I'm really looking forwards to the opportunity to give my time, learn new skills and stories and really connect with new people.

More details about my language interests
I have previously worked with kids in developing their language and communication skills, and am passionate about such things. I am a native English speaker and would be happy to share all I know. I also speak basic French, and would love the chance to expand this! Also would be delighted to pick up a couple of key words and phrases across my travels.

  • More details about your skills

I'm comfortable around animals and lifestock, familiar with feeding and handling of animals including cats, dogs, chickens, horses, goats, and sheep. I've grown up with both dogs and cats in my family, greatly enjoy spending time with both including things like walking dogs.

I enjoy garden work from weeding to planting, or even just maintenance and clearing. My family is quite keen on home-made renovations, so I am an if-not-proficient-enthusiastic painter, happy to help fixing up fences, ripping out carpet and more. If not capable with all tools, I am always very happy to learn more!

I've been studying for the last few years - mainly psychology, biology, and am passionate to continue learning. While studying, I worked as a waitress, barista, pool lifeguard, babysitter, and disability support worker. From making coffee to monitoring pool chemicals, to burping babies or supporting children with special needs, each role gave me so much in terms of strengthening my adaptability, responsibility, and people skills.

I know some basic French and would be excited to get a chance to expand on this through conversation! Very happy to lend my English skills too:)

  • What else ...

I enjoy crafting hobbies including sewing and knitting. I also love music and have grown up playing the violin, and a little bit of piano. I would love to one day learn the guitar, and perhaps saxophone! I'm always a fan of a dance around the kitchen and have a classical ballet background. Finally, I'm always up for a game of cards, also enjoy a good board game, or puzzles such as sudoku and cryptic crosswords:)
