Description
Hello,
We are Anna & Petra (27&24) from Hungary.
Anna got to know Workaway in 2021, when she travelled to Italy to learn about farming and spent three months working in an agriturismo (an organic farm with a guesthouse). Deeply inspired by the experience, she returned to Italy in 2022 and spent most of the year there — partly working on the same farm and partly discovering other similar places through Workaway.
As we are both eager to discover other cultures, learn skills and get to know like-minded people, we decided to try this experience together and travel to Ireland in spring 2026. :) We are keen on learning about rural lifestyle and farming, as well as to improve our English skills in a native-speaking environment!
A short introduction from each of us:
Anna:
I love meeting new people, getting to know other cultures and learning languages. I am also passionate about cooking and baking, so I'm always eager to learn about local cuisine, share recipes and skills, and cook for others. :) I am an outdoorsy person who loves hiking and being close to nature, as well as working with my hands.
A bit about my background: as part of my Bachelor's in tourism and hospitality, I spent a 3-month internship at an organic farm/agriturismo in Italy through Workaway in 2021, while finishing my thesis on sustainable gastronomy and the connection between agriculture and tourism. After finishing my studies, I returned to Italy for another eight months to gather further experience and knowledge with the help of some amazing Workaway hosts.
After my travels I returned to my hometown, Budapest, and turned to another passion of mine: languages. I completed a postgraduate programme in translation and interpreting. I would be super interested in combining my different interests and working as a specialised translator/interpreter in the future with a focus on any of the following: agriculture, rural development, ecotourism, gastronomy and farm‑to‑table systems... we'll see what the future brings!
Petra:
Discovering new cultures by meeting other people is one of the things I appreciate the most about travelling. I like being outdoors (regardless of the weather) and learning — be it through my own research or others — about languages and traditions. I also love learning new skills, but at the same time, I find it important to perfect the ones I've already acquired. I am open-minded, hard-working and curious by nature.
I speak English and French, but I've learnt Portuguese in the past, among other languages. I would consider myself a quick learner. Once I start something, I am committed, and I become determined to achieve the best possible outcome. I am eager to get my hands dirty and learn how to do any task or work that needs to be done.

More details about your skills
We are motivated and hard-working people, and we learn very quickly — especially when we are enthusiastic about something.
We both have degrees in translation and interpreting and are passionate (and able to teach) about languages.
Anna: My first degree is in tourism and hospitality, and I have worked in different restaurants as a waitress, as a barista and in the kitchen. I spent a 3+6 month internship at an organic farm and agriturismo in Italy through Workaway, where I helped with all kinds of garden work, making jams, preserves and other products, selling them at the local farmer's market, helping out in the agriturismo and cooking for the guests.
Petra: Even though my past work and volunteering experiences have not been of this sort, I was able to acquire valuable skills that could also be useful in different settings. I can multitask without problem, concentrate on one thing for a prolonged amount of time, stand and even enjoy monotony, but I also seek and appreciate change. New or unexpected situations don't deter me, and I am solution-oriented. I am quite creative and love to work with my hands. My relevant experience comes from my own household: helping out in my father's vegetable garden or his woodworking workshop, or helping my grandmother with jams and preserves - from tree to table.

During this time I helped Jei with the process of extracting and bottling the honey and worked in the garden and around the house with general things. The work was not very demanding, except for the hot weather. :)
