Description
I'm Gaja (pronounced as "Gaia"/"Gaya"), a nomad, backpacker, freesoul, dreamer...

After finishing military I left the lands of my ancestors and since then I'm slowly going around the world, collecting information and memories, learning about myself and all around me. First trips were more "civilized", but random, now I'm more focused to earn and improve knowledge about alternative medicine, herbs, spirituality, yoga, ayurveda, consciousness, arts, sustainability, permaculture. I like to go where I feel the right wind blows.
I love mountains, cycling, challenges, cats and cacao.
I live simply, minimalistically. I care much about economical, ecological problems (though I'm not a total fanatic of "zero-waste" and other trandy terms, but I try to leave good impact behind).

I'm really happy when I feel I'm useful, that I do something good for other living beings.

How I can help?
Even my list of type of help is wide, it doesn't mean that I'm universal, it means that I won't refuse having various tasks. I enjoy being outdoors, working with plants and having creative requests (to paint a mural, make a mosaic, bake a healthy and vegan dessert..?) I'm flexible and open to learn new things. Physical work isn’t a problem at all (I see that as an exercise). I can work individually as well as in a group.
In my opinion, workaway works the best if you can feel like a part of family/community. I'll help you as much as I can if you take me as an one member of you. c:

Everything has both sides
I'm stubborn, who has a difficult character, I can be grumpy and very angry, but probably you won't see this, because I'm very patient and I need a serious reason for this. Also, I like when everything is clear. I'm straightforward, so I expect you to be the same with me as well. If you see something wrong or you just don't like me - tell me directly. I want to learn from my mistakes.
And the last thing, I very value my independence.

I stayed here for a month (that's a minimum period of time they prefer you to stay). This is a well-organised community and you should treat it as you’re part of it. You’ll get to meet different nationalities and many members of the community who live nearby. First, try to understand how all things work, be respectful to their rules. Be ready to… read more be flexible for sleeping arrangements, as sometimes they'll need to move beds. This is a place for those, who are comfortable being alone, looking for a peaceful environment to recharge.
Although working hours are always fixed, some days are busier than others, there are always something what can be done. Do it well and you’ll be rewarded.
I was responsible mostly for housekeeping - your working area will be clearly explained beforehand. I think, really depends who’s staying at that time, because people are always changing, but I had a super-woman “head-housekeeper” Jo-Anne, who was a very fun to work/hang out with, and who’s also a professional kitchen chef. I felt that my help was very much appreciated.
After work, I had a lot of time to relax, read books, go for walks or cycle (there’re few bicycles on the site!) around lakes and forests. Probably in the winter, on the working days wouldn’t be much time to explore the area because of the short daylight. Regardless, they’re very flexible with days off and prioritise your preferences.
Then it comes to food, they give a lot of importance for people’s diets. Although I said that there’s no problem to me, they always prepared/bought something special for me without allergens. If you want to gain some pounds - that’s a place. If you have a sweet tooth and worry about your weight - that could be an issue. Every day there are cakes, biscuits for a tea break (and a break is mandatory!)… I enjoyed having abundance of fruits! The meals are always delicious, healthy, veryyy fulfillinng, fresh salads picked from the garden.
There’ll be almost none of interaction with Rinpoche, but you can always ask all your curious questions about Buddhism to his students or another monk Lobsang, who’s a very down-to-earth, friendly monk, and always around. Or find books in the library.

Of course, it'll be always more I could have done.. The month flew. But I enjoyed my stay regardless, and I might come back one day to say "hi".
