  • Description

    Heyyy :)

My name is Pauline, I’m 23 years old and I’ve just finished my Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE).

For this summer, I would love to travel around Eastern Europe and the Balkan countries before starting my Master’s degree later this year.

After finishing high school, I already spent some time traveling and gained a lot of great Workaway experience in different areas, including childcare, house sitting, gardening, and helping out in hostels. These experiences really made me enjoy cultural exchange and learning from different ways of living.

Since I will be travelling alone this time, I’m especially looking forward to meeting new people and hopefully sharing some nice moments outside of work as well.

I would describe myself as a very communicative and open person. I get along well with children and animals, and I really enjoy spending time in nature. Alongside my studies, I have manly worked in and done internships in the NGO sector, which has shaped my interest in social and environmental topics.

I’m really looking forward to a great summer, new experiences, and meeting inspiring people along the way!

SO, a little bit more about my background and experience:

I graduated from high school in 2021 and developed a strong interest in philosophy through one of my advanced courses. After spending some time travelling, I decided to study PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) in Düsseldorf. I love discussing ethical, political, and social questions and can easily spend hours talking about big ideas and different perspectives.

Alongside my studies, I have worked in a variety of jobs. I have been a private tutor, worked as a waitress, and currently work in a nursing home as well as a student assistant in NGO management. In this role, I support a small local environmental organisation and regularly help organise clean-up events along the Rhine River (a big river in germany). Nature and environmental protection are causes that are very important to me.

I am also actively involved in volunteer work. Since 2024, I have been organising language cafés for refugees, helping people connect and practice German in a welcoming environment. At the moment, I am also completing an internship with a development aid NGO.

These experiences have taught me how to create meaningful projects with limited resources, relying on creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm. German is my native language, I speak fluent English (B2/C1 level), have basic knowledge of French (A2), and have also completed an introductory course in German Sign Language.

Over the years, I have gained experience in many different fields, but my first Workaway experiences in Southern Europe were especially valuable. Through them, I learned to adapt quickly and take on all kinds of tasks, from childcare and gardening to helping in hostels.

I believe that my professional experience, open-mindedness, and genuine curiosity about people and cultures make me a great Workawayer. I am always excited to learn new things, contribute where I can, and share experiences with others. I’m really looking forward to meeting you and spending a great time together!
