Workaway news: start chatting with your personal Workaway advisor

Happy autumn from the Workaway team!

If you’re a regular visitor of the site, you might’ve noticed that your profile page has gone through a huge makeover! ✨ To keep the site even more user-friendly, remember we have introduced a “Help” section to your Workawayer profile page? Members can easily access tips on how to improve their profile, message hosts, as well as some extra information from the team.

Wanna chat?

With live chat, you can directly reach us through your the messenger on your profile page! We assure you that we are not robots working behind the site 🙂

To chat with us, click “Personal Workaway Team Advisor” on the “Help” section:

or tap the chat icon located at the bottom right corner of your profile page:

A chat box will pop up, with the name and icon of your advisor:

If you have any questions related to the site, this is the perfect place to find your answer right away! One of the most commonly asked questions we get is if we can review the volunteers’ profile for them and how they can get more responses from hosts. So don’t miss the chance to get some personal advice on your profile and tips on contacting hosts! When live chat is not available, do not fret! You can email us through our help desk and the main support team will get back to you as soon as they can.

Time for some wanderlust fix!

Here at the Workaway headquarters, we love to read the feedback that volunteers and hosts leave for each other! It’s a great way to share some of the excitement that volunteers experience with their hosts, and see how volunteers have learned from helping hosts with their projects, stayed as part of their family and found a second home in a different country, and make amazing memories that will last for a lifetime! Needless to say, these feedback definitely tingle our wanderlust…

“I don’t even know where to start to describe my experience here. I was supposed to stay here just 1 week and I ended up being for 3. Best experience ever, it’s a really beautiful and lovely place, it totally changed my view to see the world. I can’t thank them enough for everything. The stuff, volunteers and other backpackers. I highly recommend this place to everyone, I’m really really happy I could do it, and I’m definitely coming back!! Thank you, thank you, thank youuuu!”

This was our first workaway experience and we don’t know if we’ll ever find anything this good again!!

Camilla and Richard were the perfect hosts and really provided a true cultural exchange, letting us really enjoy rural France and introducing us to their friends, family and neighbour and suggesting (and taking us to) local things that we might enjoy. They also lent us one of their cars to get around in and their kayaks for our time off.”

Photo Competition Update

Exciting news. We are adding an additional “Most Popular Photo” prize for winners each month! Our team will select a few of our favourite photos and upload them to our Facebook page. The photo with the most likes will receive a gift code for a year of active subscription, which the winner can gift to a friend/loved one, or use it to extend their own subscription for another year 🙂

Our most popular photo for September is by workawayer Yanicha from Thailand:

If you like taking photos with your hosts and your volunteer projects, love sharing snazzy travel snapshots online, or just want to send your best friend off on an adventure, enter the Workaway Photo Competition now and you could be the winner for the next month! Or, if you’re more into reading and writing about your travel stories, don’t forget to check out our blog. We’ve just started a Foodie series on our blog, so come have a taste of a fellow Workawayer’s travels or share your host’s recipe with us! 😛
