We are honoured to have been your first workawayers! Helene and I had a great time staying with Eric, Nastassia and the Girls. They’re kind, generous and definitely fun to be around. Both are very open minded and flexible. Our main tasks were dropping off the kids at daycare in the morning, grocery shopping, cooking in the evening and light housework. And of course having fun playing with the kids! We had lots of free time during the week and we were off on the weekends. Thanks to Eric we were able to get the ultimate Costco experience! Thank you for letting us be a part of your family! Especially during Christmas!

I stayed with Lory and Tim for about two and a half weeks, and I had an amazing time. They are such kind people and they really make you feel at home. They are super friendly and open, but also give you your space and respect your privacy. They also have such great stories to tell. I was a bit worried at first because my English isn't perfect, but they made me feel so comfortable. While I was there, I helped with cleaning and clearing up after the guests' breakfast, and I helped with various projects, like cleaning the beehives (which Lory takes care of so professionally), getting guest rooms ready, and raking leaves. I had a break at noon, where I spent a lot of time at the pool, in nature, and doing yoga. in the late afternoons, I loved helping Lory cook dinner for the guests. It was great quality time with fun and deep conversations. They even took me on trips: we went to beautiful Assisi, Lory took me to a second-hand market, and Tim took me to see an opera in Perugia!. The work there was always pleasant and easygoing; they really cared about how I was feeling. The room was great and the view is just stunning. I highly recommend staying with them, they are smart, wonderful people with huge hearts with a wonderful place.

Louise is as she says on her profile - reliable, hardworking , skilled and an excellent project manager. She began and completed many varied tasks, clearing old beds and restoring them to their former glory, weeding, laying mulch, clearing and laying paths, cutting back plants, transplanting and tidying. She is very willing to share cooking and was generous in sharing the space with others who joined us over a weekend. She is well able to work independently and to keep an eye on the daily tasks that need doing to keep a house/garden and home running. She was sensitive to me as a host with many other obligations and was well able to take time and space for herself without needing to be looked after. She is also a very good pet sitter. I found her to be one of the best workers I have had here and I can recommend her to other hosts.

Veronika was an absolute joy to have here, and we recommend her very highly. She played a key role in creating a great experience for our guests. She greeted and oriented guests when they arrived, organized tours and boat trips, accompanied guests on walks around the property, and was always available to help with anything that came up. She struck a wonderful balance of being attentive without being overbearing, and guests felt comfortable and well cared for in her presence. What stood out most was her communication. She was incredibly responsive with both guests and with us as owners, and always stayed on top of things. She communicated in a very honest, straightforward, no-frills way, which we deeply appreciated. We always felt like we knew exactly what was going on, not a sugar-coated version. When guest issues arose, I would sometimes ask if I should step in, and she would calmly say she could handle it—and she did. She handled situations with maturity, good judgment, and confidence. She absorbed information quickly and showed that she was capable of taking on much more responsibility. She is level-headed, thoughtful, and emotionally steady—not reactive or dramatic, just calm and honest. We trusted her completely and truly appreciated everything about having her here. We would welcome her back anytime.

Alvic is one of the most openhearted people that I have met. It was a pleasure for me hosting him twice during his travel adventures. Thought he arrived and stayed around as a part of the travellers host project, he happily shared with everyone his time and energy. He is a multi skilled person. I would say "a must" for any kind of community! From handy work to delicious french cooking! Really caring personality for others, both people and animals! Take care yourself "mon ami" and continue sharing your positive vibes with the world 🏴‍☠️

I spent three wonderful weeks with Liss and Hermann and their adorable animals. My tasks mainly involved feeding the donkeys and horses, cleaning the paddocks, making marmalade and grape juice, and tending the vegetable garden. I had a fantastic time with Liss : walking with the donkeys, going to a dance (Rio Abierto), chatting about donkeys and horses, and walking the dogs. Hermann taught me how to play chess and introduced me to some great wines, and we had lots of great conversations and laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed the food; they are truly excellent cooks, and I already miss their delicious meals. I felt like part of the family while still having my own space, thanks to my dog who is traveling with me. We stayed in the apartment overlooking the horses and donkeys. Liss and Hermann were always incredibly attentive to me and my dog. I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity! Liss and Hermann, thank you again for everything and take good care of yourselves.

I spend 1 month in January with my friend Siobhán at the animal rescue and the experience was amazing!! The rescue is very big and they have a lot of animals. When we are in the yard, we are surrounded by horses and donkeys so we have to be careful with them for our own safety but most of them are very nice and friendly. At the beginning they give us a lot of informations about the rules inside the house , how the rescue works , our tasks in the yard, … so it was complicate to keep in mind all the informations but after a few days it’s ok . The community life is very funny even if sometimes it’s noisy but most of the time it’s pretty cool because all the volunteers are friendly! The experience make me know how much humans can be cruel towards animals but fortunately not all. I want to say thank you to Marine for being an amazing woman and an amazing friend and also to Ciara, Fiona, Sarah , Merce and all the people who manage this rescue and take care of animals.

I was staying at Jean‘s place for 3weeks in January and had a very nice time! We got along well pretty quickly and we shared many interesting stories :D The first half of my stay was a little chaotic, but I got to meet many friends of Jean who are really nice people!! We also did a few activities together that allowed me to see different villages/places. Work mostly consisted of weeding or cracking walnuts, but when the Construction work started I was also able to help there which was pretty fun! His cats and donkeys are extremely adorable, I really miss Camões the lapcat and the delicious Satsumas🥹🩷 I wish you all the best^^

I had an incredible experience during my Workaway stay and am deeply grateful to Lluís and Ammy for welcoming me so warmly. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home. The people, the animals, and especially the surrounding nature were unlike anything I had ever experienced before. Night walks through the rainforest were unforgettable—we saw spiders, snakes, sloths, and so much wildlife up close. A boat tour was another highlight, where we spotted an amazing variety of birds in a truly beautiful setting. I also really enjoyed the chocolate and ceramics tours, which were wonderful opportunities to learn about local traditions and experience something completely new. My personal highlight here, however, was teaching. Teaching to the staff was my first experience as a formal English teacher, and it turned out to be the most rewarding part of my stay. A special shoutout to my students — thank you for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and kindness. I have a lot of respect for the work Lluís has done with the lodge and for the opportunities they create for the local community. Their passion and creativity really show in everything they do. This was a truly special experience, and I will definitely come back. Thank you again for everything. Rohit

I had the great pleasure of staying with Marylynn and her family for 10 weeks on Haida Gwaii, and I had the best time! They made me feel welcome and part of the family the minute I arrived and in the weeks I stayed there it became a home away from home. Marylynn and her partner Doug are so passionate about what they do and they taught me so many skills and life lessons. From gardening to knitting and basket weaving to wood splitting, and from cookie baking to kombucha making, there is something for everyone to learn. I would always recommend visiting Haida Gwaii and staying on the St. Mary’s Spring Farm. The nature on the Island is breathtaking and wild, the food is delicious, the people are kind, generous, and caring and the animals are so sweet. I’m going to miss the protectors of the farm, their dogs Herby and Josie, a lot. I am so grateful for my time with you and I cannot wait to see you again!

I ended up staying at Andres' place for over a month, and absolutely loved my time there. Andres is an awesome guy with tons of energy, working on a number of projects. This was great because the tasks I did were incredibly varied. While I was there we renovated an old house from start to finish, which included cement mixing, plastering, cleaning, sanding, painting, drilling, you name it ... Andres is super friendly and patient, and is the definition of a jack of all trades. No problem is too big or complicated when he's around, which I found very inspiring. We also went hiking, surfing, climbing and and to the next village's fiesta, which was super fun and very much felt like a cultural exchange. I mostly spoke Spanish to him but his English is great so there was no problems with communication. The Finca itself is beautiful, located right next to a mountain, while the village of Fíos is super cute and lovely to stroll around. Overall it was an amazing experience, and I look forward to returning at some point in the future. Muchísimas gracias por esta experiencia tan increíble, Andrés :)

I enjoyed my two weeks with Stephanie, Vic and the dogs a lot. I was very warm-heartedly welcomed into the family and got to learn new skills, like soap-making or how to bake croissants. On sunny days I loved to do some gardening work outside and I especially enjoyed the cosy evenings where we would sit together watching tv, cuddling Penelope the dog and eating delicious dinner every single night. I'm thankful for this time!

I had a lovely experience with Carme, Blai, Fede and Xelo :) The work was easy and very flexible timewise, leaving me plenty of time to explore Valencia. The work involved mainly cleaning and tidying the house, doing grocery shopping, some cooking, and sometimes playing and looking after Carme and Blai. We had plenty of interesting conversations, thank you!
