Our time here couldn't have went any better. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed with open arms. The entire team made us feel at home immediately. Our tasks were clearly explained to us and our daily schedules were respected. 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. There is a morning, afternoon and evening shift. Tasks included checking guests in and giving them a tour of the hostel, serving breakfast, dinner and drinks, keeping the area tidy, helping reception with any tasks they may need and helping guests with any issues or questions they may have. We received free breakfast every day with coffee and tea, and free family dinners twice per week. We received discounts on food, drinks and tours also. It's a great place to practise Spanish. This was the most stress free volunteer work you could possibly imagine. It is run so incredibly well that we were able to slot in effortlessly. The hostel feels like it's own sanctuary and we absolutely loved spending time there, chilling in the hammocks and cooling down in the pool. The communal kitchen assigned to us is AMAZING. Salt, pepper, oils and multiple spices are available for free. By far the best kitchen we have ever seen in any hostel, ever. The entire premises is kept spotlessly clean by the amazing cleaning team. Guests constantly comment on how clean it is. We could honestly keep going on how good this place is to volunteer at but we hope this is enough to convince other Workawayers. To the amazing team .. thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you all. We truly loved our time there and the only downside was saying goodbye to you all. Keep doing what you're doing and you will continue to go from strength to strength! Muchas gracias y hasta luego! Kora y Tom 🇳🇮🤝🇮🇪

This is my first Workaway, so I was a bit worried that I might not be able to help much. But I’m really happy because Shota and Yuho welcomed me so warmly. The other volunteers were also very kind, always helping me and teaching me patiently. The work is really enjoyable, so time passes very quickly. During our free time, we usually cook together, play games, go out for walks, enjoy the sauna and onsen, and do many other things. I’ve learned a lot of new things here, and I would love to come back again someday.

We spent around 3 weeks at Joanna's place in beautiful Deià, and it's been a great time. The house is located in a beautiful spot, view on the valley, and a short walk to everything in the village. We were lucky to meet many locals thanks to Joanna, who knows virtually everyone around. The help we provided was more centered around the ceramic shop, and small house tasks, adapted to our individual skills and what we felt like doing too. We still had loads of time and privacy - Joanna is very generous and accomodating, she's a busy bee with a strong personality and lots of stories. Her drive and energy is contagious! 💫

We wanted to touch base on the review provide by Emma and Eline, and take the time to explain our side of the experience. The feedback was far from many other volunteers that we have happily hosted here on the property over the years. We ask our volunteers to commit one month to the project, and many have stayed longer stating how much they enjoyed the work, living arrangements, and location. Our Workaway posting clearly states we provide separate living space for our volunteers on the property, complete with up-to-date kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, and many other amenities. Volunteers do not live directly with us in our house. The girls arrived on Dec 19th with an agreed upon commitment of one month. We were also in transition over the Christmas holidays with staff members. The children's main teacher retired after two years of employment. We now have a new main teacher starting for the new semester. The girls had asked for additional days off to leave over the holidays and New Years Eve. We happily granted their request. Then they informed us they would only be able to fulfill two weeks. We plan accordingly to our children's education and depend on reliable, committed volunteers. At this point, we made the decision to accept a last minute volunteer in their place to help with the project. The girls were here 12 days total and worked only 4 days. We wanted to start the new year off with other volunteers committed to the project, children and timelines required. Since the girls were leaving for their New Years vacation, which was 2 hours from the property, we gave them 48 hours notice and advised them to continue onward with their journey. As an experienced host with many happy volunteers, we do our best to accommodate our volunteers. We took the girls into town for groceries as soon as they arrived and provide all volunteers a trip once a week for supplies. We always accommodate the living arrangements to help ensure peace and comfort. We also provide bicycles they can use for a 15-minute ride into town. We provide contact information of local taxis as well as bus schedules. All in all, we try our best to create a comfortable and great experience for all volunteers. It is unfortunate this did not work out as planned.

I don't even know where to begin to describe this volunteer experience; it was so impactful for me. Aigul and her family made me feel right at home. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was staying with a member of my own family. Aigul is simply incredible—a dynamic and incredibly kind woman. She's an excellent cook and always happy to share culinary moments. She is also a great russian Teacher and will be pleased to teach Russian basics if you want so. Her apartment and the room I stayed in were perfect. Living together went very well; sometimes we spent time together, and sometimes we enjoyed our own space. Her daughter lives in Bishkek, and I was very happy to be welcomed into her home with her family each time, as if I were staying with my own relatives. About work at school, it was my first teaching experience. I was quickly given full autonomy with my students, and at first, it was a little difficult to find a program suited to each class's level. But the students were always very willing and excited to come to class with me. The class can be maximum 6 students, but most of the time 2/3 students or private class. Eventually, I was able to adapt to each student's level, and I have wonderful memories of my time at the school. The other teachers are lovely, always ready to help, and I had a great time in their company. I worked four days a week, so the rythm was easy to manage, and I was able to explore and enjoy Kirghizistan. The school is a 10-minute walk from the apartment, and the town of Kara Balta is very pleasant. I will never forget these weeks spent with Aigul, and I hope to return someday.

It was a real pleasure to host Matteo for ten days of workaway at our little house in the woods. From the very beginning he proved to be very willing and a great worker: always helpful, reliable, and ready to lend a hand with any task. He has a cheerful and polite character, qualities that made living together easy and enjoyable. He loves the peace and simplicity of outdoor life and fit perfectly into our daily rhythm. We especially thank him for his willingness and commitment during the winter period, when working in the countryside and in the forest is not easy at all. We wish you all the best in your future projects

I spent a lovely week at Steve's place! The house set up us amazing, the farm is beautiful and the group of volunteers were wonderful. We were involved in some wall plastering, ditch-digging and plant upkeep. We also prepared the sauna and guest house for the first guests who we hosted that week. The farm is far from the town, so keep this in mind when planning sight-seeing around the working hours. I would recommend renting a bike maybe! It's more of a relaxed experience than a cultural exchange and I would have liked to learn a bit more about bio-construction but it was still a great week! Thank you Steve and family.

I spent about a month with Andres, and it was truly a relaxing and wonderful time. Every day is a joy with such a wonderful person. We met through a workaway, but he's such a lucky person. With Andres, the people I spent time with were able to try delicious Mexican food, and we traveled to many places in Korea together, with Andres driving us around most of the way. I don't think it's easy to meet such a wonderful person in life. It was truly a precious and wonderful time. He diligently worked hard, and he prepared all my firewood for the year. It's still beautifully stacked. He's easygoing, kind, and a wonderful friend, and I definitely want to see him again. To all the hosts, I 100% guarantee Andres is a great person. I miss you, Andres!!!

Graciasss La Floriana!! I had an incredible experience with the La Floriana family! This was my first experience as a volunteer, and from the very beginning Galo and Gerlinde were extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful. The day usually starts by helping to clean a part of the forest before breakfast, you can take it as a meditative activity. During breakfast, you plan the morning tasks, and the work changes every day: planting seeds, harvesting plants, fruits and medicinal plants, or helping in the laboratory cutting fruit and preparing plants to be used on the farm or for sale. Meals are provided and we ate together with the workers, the family, and the cook, you feel like part of a big extended family. The food is heaven! Every day I tried something new, all made with products from the finca. The afternoons are free to relax, go kayaking at the lagoon, or simply enjoy the place. In the evenings you can play games together or just rest if the day has been physically demanding. In the mornings I sometimes went running in nature or exercised on the pull-up bar at the finca. Galo is deeply passionate about his work and is responsible for the RIFA association. It was very interesting to attend their meetings and see how people collaborate toward a common goal: restoring the forest, connecting with plants, and spreading knowledge about analog forestry. This experience opened my mind to a new way of collaborating with nature and listening to it to understand what it needs. I also had the chance to visit other fincas owned by Galo’s friends and colleagues. It was inspiring to meet people with such strong passion for their work, taste their products, and hear their life philosophies centered on connection with nature. Everyone helped me with speaking Spanish too! I'm glad I could practice it, they were patient and encouraging :) I would recommend this experience to anyone! A big thank you to Galo, Geri, Canela (sweet dog), and everyone at La Floriana!

I have decided to leave my feedback before the end of my stay because workswayers looking to meet generous and genuine hosts should really consider staying with Yann and Yupin. They are wonderful people: warm hearted, interesting, and fun to be with; I immediately felt at ease with them. Tutoring Laly is a pleasure; she is very lively and can be a handful, but she will reward your efforts in full, and give much more, with her wit, open affection, and contagious smile. The accommodation is quite basic, but you will have everything you really need, and the Residence is a truly breathtaking place. As an extra bonus, you will have access to all their classes, and lots of free time to enjoy this amazing island. I am so grateful for being here and sharing this experience with Laly, Yupin, and Yann. Thank you!

The month long experience with Mara and Janiek worked out very well. They both fulfilled all of their work duties and particularly their care and attention to detail with painting was the best. Their relationship and care to the dogs was immediate and much appreciated. They are easy to get along with and good self-starters. We would recommend them for sure as trusted volunteers . Mil gracias y buen viaje Mara y Janiek.

I stayed with Stef for one week, and it exceeded all my expectations! I had a great experience overall. I believe Stef perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Workaway; sure, there's a job to be done, but more important to him is that you have a great experience while you're out there. He's not strict or rigid, and everything is done on trust and good faith. He's a great conversation partner, and many awesome stories of what he's been up to in his life. It's been over two weeks since I completed my stay, but I am already yearning for the taste of his home-made peanut butter and kim-chi sandwiches. Whenever I will be making my way down south to France in the future, I know where I want to make a pitstop now :)

Lennart is very sweet, open-minded, and respectful. He helped immensely with cleaning, organising, and many other areas of the house. He is very thorough in everything he does, paying great attention to detail. He is self-sufficient and quickly integrated into the whole group. Thank you so much for all your help! :)

We had a wonderful time with Dick and Angela. They live in a beautiful, secluded spot surrounded by nature and are very passionate about their place and animals. The morning routine is a lovely way to start the day: a walk together with the dogs and caring for the horses and alpacas. We loved being able to work independently on a project, but they're also happy to guide you through other tasks needed on the land. If you are a handyman or like to contribute they are happy to hear your ideas. It was wonderful to help build the trust of the sweet horses and dogs and to learn about alpacas. We really appreciated having our own house to stay, we liked to make our own breakfast and dinner. The shared lunch is delicious, Angela is a good cook. Despite the bad weather, we look back with fondly memories on our time here. If you are an animal lover enjoying quiet space this is a great place to stay. The beaches closeby are also beautiful to explore. Dick and Angela have exciting plans for the future, and we'd love to come back to see how they develop.

It was an unbelievable beautiful time. Michel and cony created a really warm and hearthful place, where the diversity and wilderness blooms and the freshness is alive. We really had a lot of lovely and funny moments like a spontaneous waterfight on a hot day or doing stickbread and Temazcal (sweathut). There were so much to do and experience like building claywalls, take care of the Orchards and the Garden, collecting and processing fruits and Vegetables. Thank you very much for this wholesome time and see you soon:) from the heart Gagi
