We’re a multicultural family living in the jungle of Peru, speaking German, Spanish, and English at home.

    👩‍👩‍👦 Who We Are:
    • Small, friendly family with a curious and playful 5-year-old son and Dogo Argentino dog.
    • Freelancers who love to travel
    • We speak German, Spanish, and English

    🧩 What You’ll Do:
    • Play and do homeschooling with our son
    • Help with housework and cooking
    • Around 5 hours a day (mostly mornings: 9 a.m.–2 p.m.) five days a week
    • Afternoons are free (as well as 2 days out of the week) for you to relax or explore

    💛 What We Offer:
    • Comfortable accommodation
    • Three meals a day
(Food for three meals a day is provided. Breakfast is self organized, lunch is usually prepared by me, and dinner is flexible. Sometimes we cook together, sometimes everyone does their own thing depending on the day.)
    • 2 free days out of the week
    • Language exchange – we can teach you German, English, or Spanish
    • Don works with plant medicine and teaches Salsa
    • Julia paints and practices mindfulness 🧘‍♀️
    • Our son Kai is full of energy and curiosity. He is also a language teacher (he speaks 3
    languages), a painter, a dancer, a comedian and a nature explorer :-)

If you enjoy kids, traveling, and living close to nature, this is a great way to experience South America while feeling at home.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We’re freelancers, so flexibility is key. We love nature, local culture, and meaningful connections. If you enjoy kids, languages, and exploring new places, you’ll feel at home with us!

We live in a small jungle village called San Antonio de Cumbaza, about 30 minutes from Tarapoto (TPP Airport). It’s surrounded by lush forest, mountains, and fresh air at a slightly higher elevation. Along the river, there’s a well-known waterfall called Huacamaillo — a perfect place for hiking, swimming, and enjoying the butterflies and spider monkeys.

    ----------------------------------------------------

Dear volunteer, if you’ve been reading up to here, thank you so much for considering us as your host family.

After some experience with volunteers, I want to be very honest with you. We live in a truly beautiful place, very close to nature and incredibly photogenic. But with that comes a rich biodiversity. That means many little creatures, especially insects and, depending on the time of day or season, mosquitoes.

It’s a tropical climate, but it’s not a place where you spend the whole day in a bikini. Nature here is real and raw.

We also love going to our land, which is our current heart project. It’s about a one-hour hike, crossing rivers and going deep into the jungle. We’ve already built a wooden cabin there with Solar Energy and we’re continuing to create a self-sustainable space. It’s right by the river, with small private waterfalls and a breathtaking view.

It’s important to say this clearly: if you want to fully enjoy this place, you need to put on your "big-girls-pants" :-)))) and be ready to step into a more open, raw and adventurous version of yourself.

We also feel deeply connected to plant medicine and the wisdom of nature. We like to offer our volunteers the opportunity to experience this in a respectful and safe way, if they feel open to it.

These experiences can be very powerful and, at times, deeply healing and eye-opening. If you feel ready to let go of some fears, to explore parts of yourself you may not usually access, and to sit with questions you’ve carried for a long time, this could be the right place for you.

If you’re open to that, you’ll be rewarded with the most magical things. A clear, open and calm mind, bright stars filling the sky, the full moon lighting up the jungle, the sounds of nature all around you, fireflies glowing in the dark, butterflies and insects in every color.
