Description
Hi! I'm Despina, solo parent, who’s traveled literally around the globe, living and connecting with people from many different cultures and walks of life. I love learning about traditions, food, and ways of thinking that are different from my own — and I enjoy sharing space with open-minded, like-hearted people who value connection and curiosity.
Heraklion is the vibrant capital of Crete — a mix of rich history and modern city life. You’ll find ancient ruins like Knossos, charming old streets, lively cafes, local markets, and beautiful beaches nearby. It’s a city full of energy, culture, and sunshine, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Next to our house is a main road that leads to downtown, where you can find supermarkets, pharmacies, coffee shops, and other essentials.
We follow the Montessori method is an educational approach . It’s based on the idea that children learn best through hands-on experience, independence, and freedom within clear boundaries.
In a Montessori environment, children are encouraged to explore, choose activities that interest them, and learn at their own pace. The focus is on developing life skills, concentration, and confidence through real-life tasks and purposeful play.
Rather than direct instruction, adults act as guides, offering support and observing the child’s natural development. Respect, order, and calm are key values — creating a space where children feel safe, capable, and deeply engaged.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Crete is full of life, especially in the summer! During your stay, you’ll likely get to enjoy local festivals with traditional Cretan music, dancing, and food — a beautiful way to connect with the island's culture and warm-hearted people. In the evenings, the towns come alive with outdoor events, concerts, and small celebrations in village squares.
While staying with us, you’ll also get a feel for a simple, mindful lifestyle. I work remotely and live in a calm, clean home where we value respect, good energy, and open communication. You'll see how I balance working from home with raising my little boy, and you’ll have a chance to share your own routines or ideas too. It’s a cultural exchange in a relaxed, real-life setting.
This is more than just a stay — it’s a way to experience authentic Cretan life while being part of a kind and peaceful household.Au Pair Help
