    Description

A small hobby farm in the beautiful West Kootenays, with great access to plenty of outdoor activities including natural hotsprings, lakes, hiking trails, skiing, mountain biking and more. I am lucky enough to call this place home, and enjoy the scenery and sanctuary of my property located just outside of the village of Nakusp. I work in healthcare full time in town, but have a 2 dogs, 3 goats, 5 sheep and 10 chickens, as well as a large garden.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I love getting to share this beautiful part of the world with newcomers. Opportunities for language exchange, exploring new cuisines, and sharing homesteading skills would be ideal.

  • Help

    Help

I am looking for the right person/people to join me in helping to maintain the property, care for animals, help with house chores and work on a variety of projects around the property. Staying here will be a nice relaxing retreat, and a good launching off point to explore the area. I ask for an hour or two of work per day, with occasional larger project days in exchange for a free place to stay. The right person would ideally have their own vehicle, although commuting to town is reasonable by bike for the motivated person.

    Accommodation

I have a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. You would have a private bedroom in the basement, with shared bathroom, laundry, and kitchen. Bedding is provided.

There is a woodstove used to heat the place throughout the winter.

You can stay for free, and if interested in cooking/meal sharing, I am happy to cover costs of groceries in exchange for help with meal prep.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Ideally no pets. If you are interested in staying but have a pet, feel free to reach out with details. I have 2 dogs already in the home and a cat allergy. One of my dogs is dog reactive, but with time and attention, she has easily coexisted for short periods with other dogs.
