Description
Hello!
We are Raquel (33) and Aron (34) living on our land inbetween Serra da Estrela and Serra de Malcata. We are creating our dream of living in nature and managing a regenerative project where we and others have a happy and fulfilling life.
THE LAND:
The land is quite big, but the biggest part is wild hills. For now we are managing and planning on the fields and terraces which is around 4ha.
In these 4ha we want to create food forests, gardens, ponds and spaces to gather and receive more people.
There are many paths and trails to walk around, if you are curious enough you will always find new beautiful spots. On the flat areas there are plenty of olive trees and fruit trees like oranges, mandarines, citrons, pears, apples and figs, and on the hills there is mainly lavender, oaks... It is full of geological resources and has several water springs, so water it's normally not a problem here. We have already made a water system that ensures us to have water for: watering, drinking and showering.
FACILITIES:
There is a stone house that we are restoring slowly. There is a dry toilet and an outdoor shower with hot water heated by solar energy or gas depending on the possibilities.
Our energy system is 100% solar.
You will have a belltent, access to an outdoor kitchen, shower and dry toilet.
There is a swimming pool of natural water, so if you like swimming this would be a paradise for you to enjoy with the view of the Serra. It's really stunning!
There is no WiFi, but very good connection either for Roaming or portuguese SIM card.
OUR VISION:
We came here with the dream of living in harmony with nature and with the intent to create an amazing place where we can live with more people and create events and retreats.
Our principles are based on permaculture, so we are studying constantly about the most respective ways for nature to do things. This means we try to use natural materials as much as possible and try to respect nature when we take decisions. This being said the perfect and ideal way is not always possible, but we always try to be as good as possible to nature.Types of help and learning opportunities

As we are at the beginning of the project there are always lots of things to do to: from building, to cleaning the land, to gardening (we try to follow biodynamic agriculture) and preparing more places for gardening, cooking, woodchipping, pruning and improving old trees, etc.
All jobs here are quite physically demanding so you would be fit or willing to be in order to be able to perform these tasks. We are not fixed in working hours or too strict on you doing a certain task, we like giving free choice to do a job that inspires you, but we are clear with the things that need to be done as well as open to creative thoughts and ideas. Exchange of knowledge is an important part for us.
In any case we expect from volunteers to have enough common sense to find the balance it between giving and receiving. We like being generous, so we prefer people who also know how to be generous while working and co-living.Languages

In bell tents, camping tent or your own van.
What else ...
The land is quite remote so you would have a car (ideally), so you can feel more free to go around. In any case we can always go shopping together, for dinner, yoga or dance sessions in Covilha (Raquel teaches twice a week there) or go for trips to the mountains, lakes or rivers or even go to gatherings and parties to neighbors.
If you don't have a car we can pick you up from bus or train stations (Guarda, Covilha or Belmonte).A little more information
