My name is Lincoln and I am opening a new hostel here in Georgetown, Penang. I have been an avid traveler myself. I have traveled to many countries in Europe, Asia and Australia. Throughout it, my home has always been Penang! Through meeting people and travelling, I felt encouraged and ready to create my very own hostel so that all backpackers can feel comfortable, easily meet others and have an amazing time!
Georgetown has been honored to be a UNESCO world heritage site because of its beautiful colonial buildings, history and all the cultures that are contained in it! One of the requirements that UNESCO has given is that all old, colonial buildings must remain the same. They can not be torn down, they can only be renovated so that they maintain their originality. My hostel is in one of these old buildings in the center of town. It used to be an old tram stop, actually! Come and help me preserve its originality, while bringing good vibes to the team and fellow backpackers coming to stay!
There is so much to do around Georgetown! Best place for foodies, beach lovers and town loving people. Many amazing historic sites and a hill top view of the whole island!
Right now, the hostel is full of amazing volunteers from around the world who came to me through other websites and friends! They have graciously donated their time to help me open my hostel. Many will leave after the opening and for that I am looking for more volunteers! I will have 3 permanent staff after that in which each volunteer will help assist!
Cooking / shopping
Help with Eco project
Help in the house
Helping with Tourists
Help with Computers / internet
You will be in the heart of Georgetown with easy access to the port to catch ferries and near the bus station too. There are local buses that can take you around that are very cheap! You will be around so much good food that it will be hard to pick what to eat! You will also have time to explore the town or even around the outskirts.
You will also be surrounded by travelers, like yourself, of all ages. You can exchange stories and experiences easily in our common area or out for a drink! Our permanent staff will be mostly Malay, so you can exchange cultural aspects about yourselves!
Like I have mentioned before, all we want to bring into the hostel is good vibes! No matter what!
**We are looking for volunteers to stay 1 month or longer***
The team at the hostel are very open-minded people, who only want to bring and create good vibes. We are hostel committed to serve backpackers and travelers globally with the intention of identifying what are the needs and wants. At such we require volunteers who would be committed based on the task that has been given.
We would like volunteers to help us in anyway possible, for example:
- Marketing and Social Media Management
- Check-in and Check out of guests
- Interacting and socializing with guests
- Cleaning rooms, halls, and toilets
- Making beds
- Helping permanent staff on daily jobs
- Small projects, like painting
- Taking care of our plants
We also would like anyone who has any special skills to come help as well! If you are an aspiring artist, singer, musician or whatever you are good at, please come! We would love to create classes or events with your skills to provide our guests!
We welcome all volunteers!
The hostel mostly contains 8-bed dorm rooms with 2 private rooms. You will be given accommodation in one of the dorm rooms that will be used as staff quarters. We will also provide you with free breakfast. Unfortunately, the hostel doesn't provide lunch or dinner for our guests so we will not be able for you either. However, don't be discouraged! I am a foodie myself and I can tell you all the best local/ western food around with the cheapest prices!
