We Live in a large rambling Queen Ann house in Shropshire near the historic town of Ludlow. We have an enormous and very beautiful garden which we were told was designed by the Edwardian gardener Gertrude Jekyll. Within the grounds of the property are a number of out buildings as well as a cottage, a pretty brook, a tennis court and a large paddock where we Have miniature Shetland ponies and hope to get some pigmy goats to join them. We are both artists and I also teach art. We are hoping to set up a residential weekend art collage as well as doing location shoots in the house and garden. We have daily fresh eggs from our chickens which roam around the large garden and we hope to get some Indian runner ducks soon to add to our poultry.
Help in the house
Help with Computers / internet
The house and garden are very idyllic and we believe an inspiring place to work. Travellers could learn about gardening in a very special garden with a lot of rare plants and trees. We are wanting to get help with painting the interior and exterior of the house and volunteers could gain experience in this area. My partner is fairly experienced in painting and decorating and I very much enjoy styling and interior design having rented out our previous house for numerous location shoots for fashion, PR, advertising and film and TV. We hope to get location work for this house and travellers could learn from the experience of being involved in this process. The historic town of Ludlow is approximately 4 miles away and is famous for fantastic food as well as the historical architecture. There are many wonderful places to walk for those keen on walking.
We would like help with predominately gardening and decorating.
The house is very large. There are many bedrooms, bathrooms and sitting rooms. There is also the separate cottage which we plan to do up.
Ludlow is approximately 4 miles away and has many cafes, good restaurants, historical architecture. It is famous for its food festival and there is a daily market in the ancient square which sells wonderful local produce. Shropshire is very beautiful with quaint villages and wonderful unspoilt countryside to walk in and pretty rivers to swim in. In the house we have art studios with plenty of materials where volunteers can create their own work in their time off if they would like to do so. We have a tennis court, table tennis, badminton, a brook to paddle in, some very friendly chickens and plenty of space in the house and garden to relax.
