Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We love to travel and to meet new people. We have been lucky enough to have gone to every continent and experienced lots of different cultures...Tasmania benefits greatly from its remoteness but this can be a double edged sword culturally. We could love to get involved with different ways of being and doing and avoid becoming too insulated at the end of the Earth! We would also love to share our own culture with you and introduce you to this special, undiscovered part of the world. We can teach you how to make some of our favourite dishes and maybe you can do the same for us! We also love a glass of interesting wine, hiking and board games.
We don't have a set of 'things' that we are seeking to gain from cultural exchange. We want to develop ourselves as people and gain a more worldly perspective by engaging with people who have different cultural values and ways of being than us. We hope to offer the same to the travellers that we host.
Help
Gardening please! This means a lot of pulling out weeds and grasses, mulching and potentially planting. We try to be organic, which means pulling out weeds rather than spraying. We will garden with you when we can but often will be at work. We will ofcourse provide food and accommodation.

Accommodation
We have a spare room in a big north facing house on the cliffs. You'll have an ensuite and a large private space.
We are super happy to provide meals and guests can eat with us some nights when we are in. We will be at work over lunch time and for breakfast we usually have toast and coco which that would be welcome to. They are welcome to use our pantry items. We are also happy to provide a stipend for meals and will take your advice on what would be appropriate. We are happy to work with with whatever our guest prefers but would like to learn some new recipes from them! Maybe share some of ours
What else ...
There is so much to do and learn about here on the North West coast of Tasmania. Some of our favourite places to visit are:
· Table Cape Lighthouse circuit walk and lookout
· Table cape Tulips – walk through the fields of a private Tulip farm (Oct – Nov)
· Inglis River walk – starting at Gutteridge Gardens in Wynyard you can walk all the way across the river to Fossil Bluff with thousands of fossils in the cliffs
· Boat Harbour – if there weather’s good this Beach is a must see, voted one of Australia’s top 10 beaches
· Sisters Beach – A bigger beach with white sand, a bit more like the Whitsundays though with colder water!
· Rhododendron gardens in Burnie – wonderful blooms over a huge manicured area
· Stanley – An historic fishing town with heritage streets and a great wine bar, also steampunk themed. You can also climb the Nut, an ancient volcanic plug and visit the historic Highfield Estate
· Dip Dip falls – a stunning basalt waterfall, and don’t forget to walk to the ‘Big Tree’
· Blue Hills Honey – all things Tasmanian honey set in the beautiful Tarkine
