Description
Family of 3, its me Christian and Larissa and our daughter Ida. Where we live we have started a restaurant, and run at the moment a B&B at our property. The project for now is to start up a permaculture-inspired orchard and berry production and thats where workaway comes in :) Depending on time, we try to grow anything edible and even though we just started a few years ago, we are having a lot of fun. The orchard is just a hobby since we do other things to make a living and we dont sell any of the produce. We just like to share it with workawayers and friends and stockpile for the winter and make products out of it. Since we are chefs, we get really into the culinary bit aswell.
Types of help and learning opportunities
Help with Eco ProjectsGardeningDIY and building projectsCreating/ Cooking family mealsGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you want to be around a sensible family growing fruits and veggies in various ways or just learn about growing food, making soil, wild food or cooking, I think you´ll be happy here. We also enjoy building most of the things we need and we can share our basic building skills. We usually speak english in our household since we are from two different countries, although we all speak Swedish as well. For years we did couchsurfing so we are used to having people over, so there will be a nice balance between the work and just hanging out.

Help
We try to live our lifes in a down-to-earth and natural way and we always enjoy meeting likeminded souls. We grow fruit and vegetables in our orchard of 80 fruit-trees and aprox 150 berrybushes. We rebuild and build things around the house and garden all the time. Cooking is a way of life for us as we prepare as much of our homegrown things as possible in an all natural way. The help around the place is just really dependent on the time of year in Sweden, what we will do will depend alot on that and what we feel like. At the moment everything is quite new in the garden but we are trying to have patience for the things to grow and give big harvests :)
To try to give some examples to what we can do here it includes digging and planting trees and bushes, watering (at least for now we are still doing that manually aswell as a pumpingsystem), mowing, mulching, walkways, turning trees/shrubs into mulch. It may include building things if that is one of the interests. Things we have done togheter with workawayers in the past is laying floors, making walls, building a watertower, framing the garden, a growhouse and building a firepit. Indoors examples of things to do can be making products out of the produce like applerings, tomatoesauce, fruitleather etc. We have a lot of knowledge to share! Since we dont have too much things to do inside and we want this to be somewhere where you can really learn as much as possible about permaculture, be aware that we might be outside even though the weather isn't perfect and it can be quite heavy duty sometimes. After a day of gardening, you will work up a very healthy apetite normally :)Languages spoken

Private rooms, shared bathroom. Cat in-house! We cannot accommodate dogs unfortunately inside the house.
What else ...
We live in a country village with everything in it outside of Kalmar. Although there are some buses, its just so much better with a car. But don´t hesitate to contact us anyway, we are in Kalmar (the nearest town) all the time so we can pick up as well. There are plenty of Swedish forests around us and its a really nice stress-free village. Swimming possibilities in the summers and you will have acces to sauna, canoes and at least one racebike if you wanna check out the surroundings.
