Description
After a few years living abroad I have returned to my hometown on Lake Como and I am managing a few vegetable gardens following no dig principles.
I offer work experiences in vegetable gardethe main objective is to be self sufficient.
It would make more sense giving the opportunity to someone with an active interest in gardening and at least some basic experience.
Please mention something about this when making an initial contact.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Apart from all things related to gardening, volunteers can learn about Italian traditional cuisine and culture.
My background is in music and audio engineering, I build and repair audio electronics and I play guitar and synths.
In my spare time in enjoy travelling, hiking, free camping, fishing, and generally spending time in nature.
Help
The no dig gardens depend on an yearly application of organic matter onto the soil. Quite some efforts are put into collecting organic materials, making compost and mulches and spreading them over the garden.
Everything is grown directly from seed so there is always a lot of propagation and seedlings production going on.
Every season we let the best plants go to seed to reproduce the same varieties.
Summer months are busy with storing the produce, canning, fermenting, drying and making sauces and jams.

Accommodation
I live in an independent house with garden.
I can host a maximum of two volunteers, either in the same room, or in two separate ones.
The garden, living room, kitchen and bathrooms are shared spaces.
Meals can be shared together or not depending on individual preference.
The food I can provide is a variety of seasonal vegetables from the garden, fruit, eggs, cheese, legumes and home made sourdough bread.
It's allowed to consume meat or fish on the property (there is an outdoor bbq)
What else ...
The areas where the fields are located offer a great mix of outdoor activities: hiking, swimming, skiing, climbing, mountain biking, fishing, mushroom foraging, wild camping, paragliding,...
I have push bikes, kayaks, climbing and fishing gear which will be available for the volunteers and I am keen to personally show around the area and share activities whenever time allows.
