    Description

We are Leedonal & Martin and we have purchased a beautiful Chateau in the Pays De La Loire.

There are still a couple of spaces to renovate, as well as finishing touches all around the Château, so we get excited if you have trade skills to offer. We have availability for you throughout the year (starting May 2021) and are keen to book interested people, like yourself, in for longer periods anytime over the year.

We have availability for you throughout the year (starting May 2021) and are keen to book interested people, like yourself, in for longer periods anytime over the year.

We ask a minimum stay of two weeks with us, but longer periods are also a bonus.

We love positive enthusiastic people who enjoy all that life offers and can share that energy with those around them.

If you like working in the garden or have general handyman skills...we would love to hear from you. We would also love a stonemason to join us, as we have a few stone walls to repair.

We also love any tradespeople...or those with renovation experience. We would like help inside and outside and with plenty of gardening and watering. Outdoor work includes setting up the garden, cutting and trimming of trees and mowing the lawn.

Further work includes simple window washing, exterior window and door or wall painting.

It would be great if you have a driving licence for a manual (stick shift) vehicle too, but not essential.

The gardens and grounds take a bit to look after with 27ha of parc & forest, a formal French garden.

So if you like working outside, this is the place for you. We have a regular team of gardeners but we need additional help from people who want to potter about doing additional weeding and whipper-snippering (strimming).

For reasons of health and safety you must be able to speak English to a good standard.

Accommodation for helpers is in a converted outbuilding in the grounds, with shared bathrooms.

We ask that you work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week (20 hours a week), but you can work longer days if you want to take more full days off to explore the area. There is loads to do in the region in your free time and we’ve got bikes for you to use to get around. You`ll need a sturdy pair of boots and depending on the season, warm clothes and a waterproof jacket would be handy. We provide gloves and Personal Protective Equipment if necessary.

You will be in excellent company, have decent accommodation (your own room) and eat good food. Three meals a day are offered with shared cooking facilities.

Why don`t you join us and immerse yourself in the French way of life at an ancient castle in the Pays De La Loire.

We are Leedoanl & Martin, from Switzerland. We speak English, German, Spanish, Italien, Russian and we are trying to improve French too :-) ! We also have a dog named Tyra - a Black Labrador - , who loves people and getting cuddled, but she is very cute! In addition to Tyra there is also the watch dog of our gardener, a German Shepard named, Boss.

We are an 30min away from Le Mans and 1.5-2 hours from Paris. If you’re arriving on public transport, the nearest rail and bus station is Ferte Bernard and if you let us know the time your train or bus arrives, we will pick you up and drive you to the château, which is 7 km away. We`ll also drop you back there on your last day.

Thanks for taking the time to read our listing and we look forward to welcoming you to Chateau De Beauchamps - Sarthe, to be part of our Château-Family.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The area is rural France at its best and there is a car at your disposal. Get to know local produce, pick up some French and local culture. The area is absolutely stunning country land with rolling hills, beautiful forests and the gentle Husine river flowing nearby.

While there are very few tourists around, there are many things to see and explore. And if you like wine, this is the place to get to know the local, little known and extremely affordable magnificent Saumur wines. This is genuine France with all the trimmings but without the hype.

Paris is just over an hour 30mins away by car, Le Mans just 35 mins away and the lovely town of Ferte Bernard, with everything you need, only 7 km away.
