    Description

We live in San Miguel de Allende, an attractive small city in Mexico full of culture, the arts, the great outdoors (hot springs, hikes, botanical gardens, hidden treasures), the best street food and fine dining Mexico has to offer and a vibrant, harmonious community made of Mexican nationals and internationals from around the globe. San Miguel has been rated the friendliest city by Conde Nast for multiple years in a row and we truly feel fortunate to be here and to share the best it has to offer.

We live in a modern three bedroom apartment now, with a pool, gym and gated security, in which you'd have your own bedroom and bathroom. Our other property is in an ecological zone with a mountainous backdrop with a secret garden- like restaurant with over 130 five star ratings on Google, full of beautiful flora and fauna (we have a well kept garden, 4 dogs and a cat there), yet we’re still only a 20 minute walk to the center from either location. Behind our restaurant property is a beautiful little valley with copal trees, wildflowers, old buildings from the revolutionary era, a creek that travels through the red rock mountains and a water dam. We have Starlink internet in both locations, and when you're not helping out at our home, you'll get to enjoy this natural sanctuary while creating content for the restaurant and our other businesses.

We're currently working on various projects and host travelers from all over the world, including artists and entrepreneurs from the USA, Canada, Russia, Australia, Germany, China, Latin America and beyond.

We'll have a newborn baby in the family come late March, and mama (Ashley) needs a hand from a gentle and peaceful soul at least a couple hours a day around the house, whereas the rest of your time would be spent between research, content generation and other business oriented tasks. This is a great WorkAway for someone who is young, friendly and wanting to learn more about business administration and digital marketing while in a creative, international family environment. It's also fantastic for digital nomads!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Ashley has a background in design, yoga, breathwork and events. She currently works as an intimacy and relationship coach holding private and group retreats all over Mexico. She’s been a Workawayer and AuPair herself in the past, is bilingual in English and Spanish and has travelled to 25 countries. Oskar, has worked as a university professor and is a passionate and wonderful teacher to anyone who is open minded and wanting to learn. He is the designer and visionary for our ecological property, from which the restaurant is run by his family. You will have plenty of opportunity to interact with everyone, as we will spend some days on the other property together, as well.

In spending time here, you will also learn about traditional, regional cuisine either through cooking or eating it, or both! San Miguel is also a highly desirable place to live with endless opportunities for cultural exchange and exposure to communities of artists, activists and free thinkers of all types. This was the home of the Mexican revolution and is centrally located for easy access to Mexico City, Queretaro, Guanajuato and Guadalajara by bus.

There are multiple well known and respected art universities in town along with hundreds of art galleries situated throughout the historical cobblestone streets.

  • Help

    Help

We’re an upbeat, creative and ambitious family & team, seeking the same. :)

Our daughter is arriving in late May 2025, and the help would involve a mix of domestic tasks , light childcare and computer or phone based work related to our businesses. The work would fluctuate daily and so someone who is flexible in character, who doesn't mind helping prepare meals regularly, but who also wants to work intellectually and creatively, would enjoy this WorkAway.

While on our restaurant property, you may also have the chance to contribute to the restaurant experience in some way, whether through helping with gardening, helping with operations or light handy tasks. This is optional as our priorities right now are those stated above.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

While we used to offer glamping and similar accomodations on our ecological property, we are now in need of support at our home, which is a modern (4 years old) apartment in San Miguel de Allende. You'd have your own bedroom will full sized bed and plenty of closet space and a private bathroom connected to your room. When you're not helping with tasks, you have access to a community gym and swimming pool, plus we have a rooftop terrace with a hammock which is also great for yoga, reading, etc. Whatever we're eating at home is primarly what you'd be eating, alongside us, and we offer meals at our restaurant sometimes, too, depending on the flow of the weekly schedule. We are an omnivorous household, and while we are accepting of all dietary preferences and have always accomodated them, you should be comfortable with helping cook with meat, cheese etc, even if you're not eating it.

We need to write these two points to be clear and filter those not interested:

    - We do ask for 5 hours a day or the equivalent in less days if you want to travel the region.
    - We also ask for a minimum month long commitment and that you have completed at least one other Workaway experience before.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

San Miguel never gets boring. From yoga to mezcal to dancing of all types (salsa, ecstatic dance, hip hop clubs) to hot springs to theaters and cinema to architectural touring to pyramids to hiking to art galleries to air balloons and more.... your free time will be used very well. Everything in town is a walkable distance, but San Miguel also has cheap and reliable public transportation that stops nearby and we drive into town and markets often, which means there are regular opportunities to catch a ride with us.
