    Description

We are an organization trying to develop a village for eco tourism and an english school in our village.
We have two activities, one focusing on bringing tourists to visit our village and get to know a little bit about the local culture, the other one focusing on providing a good education in English to people in Lombok.
The village of Bonjeruk is located in the Kecamatan of Jonggat, Kabupaten Lombok Tenggah ( Central Lombok ).
Bonjeruk is located in a ideal area, nearby several famous touristic places like Taman Narmada, and the traditional weaving center of Sukerare, and it can be reach from the International Airport of Lombok in approximatively only 25 minutes. Now the area of Bonjeruk is split in 3 hamlets being Ubung, Bunkate and Pengenjek. Dwellers of Bonjeruk amount to a total of about 7000 souls and the majority of them are farmer and breeders.

The name of Bonjeruk originate from the word "Bun/Buwun" meaning well, followed by the orange tree that never stop giving fruits. There is about 13 Bun/well in Bonjeruk that have still been used until today by the community for taking showers, cleaning and as a source of drinking water.

We want volunteers to help us to teach English, to assist in the school or to lead the classroom. Besides that, we would like to organize conversational classes with the people in our team, they all have a good understanding of English, but many of them still need help and practice to be able to express themselves in English.
We might also need your help in gardening, helping with computer and marketing, and why not teach the locals if you have any skills in craftsmanship.
We expect you to work in the school everyday, about 2 hours a day, and spend at least a couple of hours with the more advanced students in conversational classes you will have to organize.
We'd like you to come with ideas and methods in teaching, you won't be guided so you will be sole responsible to manage the class. It's a responsibility and we need you to be responsible enough.

    What else ...

You must understand that you will be living in a village with a traditional mindset. Some things that are obvious in western cultures might shock or disturb the sensitivity of people around. Do not speak bad about our religion, and please be very careful with subjects concerning politics, sexuality and genders. Remember that tolerance means to respect the views and feelings of others, even if you may not agree.
Please come with a willing to share, and if people in Bonjeruk will be very welcoming and generous, keep in mind that they often have little mean of subsistence, so please be grateful and respectful, even if the things they share with you don't seem a lot to you, for some of us, it means a lot.
