  • Description

We Kiwi 'lifestyle' on our picturesque 35 acres of farmland in sunny Longbush, just south of Gladstone and north of Martinborough (the world renown wine region!) in the Wairarapa valley. We have a beautiful home, garden, orchard and vegetable garden, around 40 cattle and loads of native birds.

We are a lifestyle block not a business. That means we grow, harvest and prepare much of our own food. That keeps us (and workawayers) busy, and we don't really see it as 'work'. As a result we have amazing fruit, vegetables, nuts, home grown meat, and home made preserves. This is time consuming and is what we want help with. We are also developing our small farm (35 acres) and a large beautiful, flowering garden. Help there is also needed.
We are active a lot each day, and every day, as a result.

  • Help

    June 2019 update
We recently moved a cottage onto the farm. It looks great! But it means we need help with interior painting, as well as landscaping and gardening around the outside of the cottage. We also need help putting in the spring vege garden and digging over and planting up new beds for strawberries and in the shade house.

If you are strong and industrious, we'd love to have you to stay.

We are looking for people willing to work in: construction, shifting and splitting firewood, chainsawing, building repairs, painting, fencing, bush clearing, horticultural bed preparation, gardening - whatever you can do!

People who are hard workers, self-starters and willing to use their initiative fit in well on the farm. There is lots to be done on a large lifestyle block, and pretty much everyone seems to enjoy the variety of farm life activities to participate in or lead. One day is never the same as another.

Sharing the tasks of living together will be expected (such as cooking and housework) but we will also fit in with your particular skill set and interests. It is important that you use your initiative by looking at what needs to be done, checking in with us and then getting on to it.
