Description
We are a community farm in the small coast town of Ayampe, Ecuador. The project started in 2020 during the pandemic, as a mean to ensure food security and sovereignty in town. Indeed, during that time, it became more difficult to access food as we live in a remote part of Ecuador. Nowadays, we host several permaculture and agroecology workshops, leaning into educating our community and surroundings about the benefits of producing and consuming locally grown food. These events are our main source of income, along with our nursery garden. Everyone in the community is invited to make their own garden beds, and learn about sustainable living. We host the first recycling center of Ayampe. Our aspirations for this project is for it to grow into a community space where people of all ages, genders and nationalities can gather to share, learn and develop into alternative ways of living.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Ayampe is a beautiful surf paradise in the coast of Ecuador. In your free time, you can spend time at the beach, maybe learn how to surf, improve your Spanish skills and even build upon a yoga practice, given that there is a big yoga offering in town. It's a very healthy environment for everyone to live in. As for life in the farm, this is the opportunity to lean deeper into your permaculture experience and contribute to a project that aims towards supporting a global environmental shift of our ways to exist.
Help
We are looking for one or two long-term volunteers with experience in the field of permaculture, sustainable farming and farm management. The perfect profile would be a person that is also leaning into a more social personality, as the project demands much interaction and merging with all the inhabitants of our community. Someone that is good with animal care would be a preferable trait, given that we raise (on a small scale) pigs and chickens in the farm. Your responsibilities would include farm management (guiding other volunteers) and maintenance as well as initiative in creating and hosting workshops, for the farm to have a income and the project to sustain itself.
