    Description

We are a Belgian-Colombian couple living in a small farmers village in the Colombian Andes. We have a small ecological farm and a social-ecological Foudation where we mostly work with children and youth around education and environment.
Our house is on like an island between two rivers that is why our farm is called Dos Quebradas.
We have two dogs and cat. Drinking water is from a natural source nearby. We have a vegetable garden where we try to grow our own crops. Our objective is autosuficient living and permaculture.
In the village we manage a foundation. Our biggest project is the casa cultural (community center) located fifteen minutes away from the finca. The foundation´s objective is to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants in balance with mother earth. We would love for volunteers to be able to integrate themselves in the community center and around the farm, so the experience can be allround.

One of the mayor tasks is the vegetable garden where you can make contact with the earth in a meditative way. And general maintenance/building tasks around the farm.
We are open for any creative and artistic ideas you could have to beautify the house and its surroundings. We are planning various construction projects around the property.
At the casa cultural you can participate in creative workshops with the children or teach english and also general maintenance of the classrooms and gardens.

Alongside one of the rivers we built a little wooden cabin almost completely out of recycled materials. At the moment though we have a fulltime local volunteer living here, that is why we have created a voluntary room at the main house with bunkbeds with space for maximum two people at a time. We offer clean cheats and blankets and if needed extra sleeping mats and matresses. If you have your own tent, you can pitch it up beside the cabin. In the garden there is a firepit near the river when you want to relax and enjoy yourself. The bathroom with dry toilet and the kitchen are located in the main house. It is important for us that you feel welcome like it was your own home.
We make arrangements to cook as a family. You have access to water, coffee and tea the whole day. If you are vegetarian or have some kind of food intolerance, please let us know before arriving to be able to take it into account.
We prefer volunteers to stay for longer periods but if you want to stay for one week it is also acceptable, we prefer arrivals on Sundayevening or Mondays.

The comunity of Guchipas, is located 20 minutes by bus from the city Fusagsuga and about three hours from Bogota. The closest bus stop is 20 minutes by feet from our farm (the are mototaxis that can take you) and there are buses from Fusagasuga and Pasca and back every fifteen minutes from 6am to 8pm. We also can pick you up in Fusagasuga if arranged.
There are some small shops located nearby if you need anything.
In your free time you can explore the nature and the mountains around here. We regularly offer trail walks (canyoning, climbing, ...) and you can also go on a daytour to the Paramo de Sumapaz, a very rare and unique ecosystem with beautiful lakes and special plants.
If you are interested in the history of the region, you can visit the archeological museum in the small town of Pasca.
In Fusa there are comercial centers and big supermarkets for anything you might need.
