I have just spent a short and very sweet 2 week stay at Doug and Janet's home. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, learning about Western riding, barrel racing and the logging industry. I felt completely welcomed into Doug and Janet's home and enjoyed meals with them. Everyone I met at their property was lovely; family, friends and boarders. They have

Janet and Doug are very kind and generous and I would have loved to stay longer. I definitely recommend this Workaway. Thanks very much to you both 😊You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I stayed with Janet and Doug for five weeks and had a good time! They take great care of their animals and have a really nice place where you can see the best sunsets and mountain views. Janet let me have lessons with one of her students which I’m really thankful for, I learned lots about horses from her! They have the cutest dogs Trip and Sadie,
… read more two adorable barn cats called Tom and Jerry and of course the cute horses! I helped with chorses, did some garden work and harvesting for Doug, sometimes did some meal prep and was even offered to help on their son in law’s vineyard. Nakusp is a pretty neat place too and I definitely recommend going to Jennifer‘s chocolate shop and try her good stuff or the Nakusp Hot Springs! Even just walking at the waterfront will steal your breath, I can’t put in words how amazing the area is. Janet‘s and Doug‘s family are all really nice too and always treated me with kindness. Little Reana won my heart for sure!

I absolutely loved staying at Doug and Janet's, and it's a shame I forgot to leave a review until now. People need to know how great these guys' place is. The two made me feel super welcome in their home from the first moment on and made it incredibly easy to be so far from my family. And all of their boarders are so nice too! I haven't yet
… read more figured out if they are just all coincidentally really nice people or if it is the famed Canadian attitude. In addition, they have two of the sweetest dogs and I am still working on my masterplan to steal Trip.
I stayed for a total of three and a half months, originally intending to only stay for one, but I just didn't want to leave. While I was there I got a great look into Canadian life and met loads of their family and friends.
The pictures don't even come close to how beautiful their farm is- I was lucky enough to get to see it in winter, spring and summer and I cannot decide which I liked best. Your accommodation is really nice and you have a lot of space for yourself to retreat to if you are tired. They were super accommodating towards my being a vegetarian and Janet makes some of the best bread I ever had. You should visit just for that.
The workload is more than manageable and you have lots of opportunities to ride their really well broke horses and explore the area. I had a lot of fun meeting everyone and I got to know so many interesting and amazing people.
All in all, I cannot really find words to express just how much I loved to stay with them- I still get feelings of 'homesickness' and if I were to list everything great about them and all the amazing things that happened- well we'd still be here in a week. I hope I'll be able to come back, I miss you guys so so much<3You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We were Thea's first hosts when she arrived in Canada. Thea was always very up beat. Lots of fun. She was a hard worker and followed instructions well. She initially came for a month but due to a bad experience at her next host she came back to our home and also helped out a friend of ours for the duration of her stay in Canada.

Her English was exceptional, we teased her that she really must have been from England.Feedback

I spent about 3 weeks on the farm of Janet and Doug. It was just amazing! From the first moment I really felt like home and Janet and Doug are great. They gave me great opportunities to work with all their horses, took me with friends of them on quad trails and showed me around the beautiful area of Nakusp. I had a wonderful time with them and

Rosaline spent about 3 weeks with us and wish we could have kept her forever. She was great with our horses. Very self motivated. Always looking for something to do. A perfect fit for our family and farm!!! ❤️❤️❤️
