  Good morning ! We are a French couple, Pierre and Florence, soon to be fifty, and an 8-year-old boy, Juan. We have been established in Uruguay for 12 years. Previously we lived in French Guyana, then lived and sailed for 2 years on a sailboat. Currently we are settled in the South East of Uruguay on 7 ha of land 10 km from Aiguá, a very picturesque village of 2000 inhabitants. We are 70 km from the coast (the seaside resorts of the department of Maldonado on one side and the wild coast of Rocha on the other) and 170 km from Montevideo the capital. Our region is characterized by its "mountain" side, landscapes of rocky hills and sparsely populated maquis. Country of Gauchos breeders of horses, cows and sheep. We benefit from a pure air and from a nature still rather preserved as well on the level of the flora as of the fauna. We built our own wooden house and we also have a pretty vegetable garden cultivated in a permaculture state of mind. We have a chicken coop, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 sheep and 2 old horses. In this kind of life that we have chosen, there are always plenty of things to do and helping hands are always welcome. We are not workaholics, and always enjoy welcoming visitors. To be welcome with us, you have to love the countryside, love children, ecology, have a left-wing heart, a taste for community life (having overcome your phobias of washing up and cleaning) and above all don't not take yourself too seriously.
  
  
  Bonjour ! Nous sommes un couple de français,Pierre et Florence, bientôt la cinquantaine, et un petit garçon de 8 ans, Juan. Cela fait 12 ans que nous sommes établis en Uruguay. Auparavant nous avons vécu en Guyane française, puis avons vécu et navigué pendant 2 ans sur un voilier. Actuellement nous sommes installés dans le Sud Est de l'Uruguay sur 7 ha de terres à 10 km de Aiguá un village très pittoresque de 2000 habitants. Nous nous trouvons à 70 km des côtes (les stations balnéaires du département de Maldonado d'un côté et la côte sauvage de Rocha de l'autre) et à 170 km de Montevideo la capitale. Notre région se caractérise par son côté " montagne", des paysages de collines rocheuses et de maquis très peu peuplés. Pays de Gauchos éleveurs de chevaux, vaches et moutons. On bénéficie d'un air pur et d'une nature encore assez préservée tant au niveau de la flore que de la faune.
  Nous avons construit nous même notre maison en bois et nous avons aussi un joli potager cultivé dans un état d'esprit permaculturesque. Nous avons un poulailler, 3 chiens, 2 chats, 2 moutons et 2 vieux chevaux. Dans ce genre de vie que nous avons choisi, il y a toujours plein de choses à faire et les coups de main sont toujours les bienvenus. Nous ne sommes pas des bourreaux de travail, et avons toujours du plaisir à accueillir de la visite.
  Pour être bienvenu(e) chez nous, il faut aimer la campagne, aimer les enfants, l'écologie, avoir un coeur bien à gauche, un goût pour la vie collective (ayant surmonté ses phobies de vaisselle et de ménage ) et surtout ne pas se prendre trop au sérieux.

  There are some nice walks to do in the area. A pretty river, the village and trudge through the countryside.
