Hi everyone. I am a 26 year old guy who is aspiring to learn English at a C1 level. My aim is to find someone who can help me achieve this goal
I live on the third floor in a three-story house in Perugia, literally the centre of Italy, also known as its green heart 💚. I sometimes move to my grandpa’s house, just in front of the Adriatic Sea located in Villa Rosa; a peaceful place close to the border of two Italian regions, Marche and Abruzzo. I love to live in the latter place, with a sea-view and a sandy beach within a 2 minute walk. The biggest mountain of Central Italy (Gran Sasso 2912m high) is also standing behind the house, yet totally visible from the balcony. I love to go running on the sandy beach with my dog Willy, half Newfoundland and half Australian Shepard. We, Willy and I, live together either in Perugia or Villarosa according to our desire. During free time we go hiking in the mountains or swimming (rivers, lakes and sea). I graduated in the law field and got a second level Master. I‘ve also carried out an internship at the Prosecutor’s Office. Now, I am studying hard in order to join the Police Force. Unfortunately, getting a job in the public sector is tricky, hence, I’ve had to attempt it twice already (I am waiting for the results of the second attempt now). My alternative dream Is to work as well as carrying out an internship at Europol. That’s why I need to get a C1 certification in English and I need a native speaker who can help me. I have had just one experience with Workaway and I am eager to meet my second guest. Nevertheless, I used to host people, as I am part of other online communities, which has helped me very much to enjoy my experiences abroad as a guest when I was travelling.
I look forward to hearing and potentially meeting you!
You can enjoy your stay at my place visiting the surroundings and eating very good food. You can decide whether you would prefer to visit me in Perugia or Villa Rosa (Teramo) or both of them. I can help you to reach your destinations with my car (pick-up and drop-off). You can also join me and Willy in our adventures or you can listen to our travel advice and go alone. There are no strict rules besides respect for the house and the people you live with.
If you love eating you might go back heavier because Italians know how to cook and where to eat.
Italy has many nice spots and I know many of them in my region, so if you trust me, you will be amazed and rewarded by this experience.
I need help with English and/or French, but only from native speakers. If these languages are not your mother-tongue, we need to speak beforehand to assess whether your help might suit my needs. The help consists of correcting my writing, exercises and correcting my speaking whenever a mistake occurs. The time can be flexible, I would say 2-5 hours per day.
Private room with a single or a double bed. The guest will enjoy his/her own privacy inside the private room. So there will be no need to share the room unless there are more workawayers, which is unlikely due to the kind of help I need.
No smoking inside and respect the basic house rules, for example the guest should not come back at 4am being loud.
I’ve listed some nice spots you can visit during your stay with or without my help (which consists of giving you a ride to the station or to the place):
Terme di San Filippo: natural hot springs (up to 40 degrees) in the wild, free access and calcium white waterfalls. Trasimeno Lake (biggest lake in Central Italy, with a beautiful sunset at San Feliciano or visiting its small island Polvese by boat)
Hikes: there are so many, I can be more specific in our conversations. Here are a few of the best:
Gran Sasso - highest peak of central Italy almost 3000 meters, Monte Tezio, Monte Subasio.
Waterfalls: Morricana, Marmore (highest in Europe)
Perugia is a very old city, with a rich history, you can find some very old monuments. If you like history I can give you some quiz questions like: how old is that thing in your opinion? You might be surprised eventually.
CHOCOLATE: Perugia is a chocolate lover’s dream so you better like it. There is an old factory which is also a museum where you can do an all you can eat of every single chocolate ever produced in the factory.
CITIES: Rome and Florence are 2 hours by train or by flixbus from my city so they are very close and good for a day trip
If you are willing to wait 4-5 hours you can reach Venice and Naples
Perugia is in the centre of Italy, so it is a perfect place for travelling.
RELIGION: mystical and spiritual places.
PERUGIA IS REALLY CLOSE TO ASSISI AND GUBBIO. Both places are stunningly beautiful with nice views from the top of old cathedrals. You may know of San Francesco di Assisi who is very famous in Christian culture. Read his story or let me tell you his true legend.
