Description
About Us
We are a family of three, living a simple, intentional life in the beautiful Montenegrin countryside. I’m originally from Montenegro and my partner is from the UK, making our little family a blend of cultures and perspectives.
We’ve recently moved to our family land, where we’re slowly building up a small farm with a few animals and big dreams. There’s always something to do – from gardening, building, and small renovations to creative projects and community ideas. While the to-do list is long, the vibe here is peaceful and unhurried. We deeply value connection, conversation, and creativity just as much as we value practical help.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re hoping to host open-minded, easygoing people – perhaps with alternative or creative backgrounds – who are curious about different ways of living. People we can genuinely enjoy spending time with, share meals and ideas, and have meaningful conversations about life, society, culture, and the world.
If you’re someone who enjoys nature, is happy to get your hands dirty, and likes being part of a down-to-earth family rhythm (with a little one around!), we’d love to hear from you.
Where We Are
Our place is located just outside Danilovgrad, a small town of about 6,000 people nestled between Montenegro’s two main cities – Podgorica and Nikšić. It’s quiet here, but not isolated. About 20 km away is the stunning Ostrog Monastery, dramatically built into a vertical cliffside – a must-see while you’re here.
Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and forests, this region offers plenty of natural beauty, fresh air, and opportunities to explore rural Montenegro.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We’re a multicultural family – Montenegrin and British – and we love sharing our cultures, languages, and everyday life with others. Staying with us means you’ll get a real taste of Montenegrin traditions, food, and countryside living, as well as insight into a more alternative, creative lifestyle.
We’re happy to help you learn the language, share stories about local customs, and even take you to explore some of Montenegro’s most beautiful and lesser-known natural spots.
We’re also both very hands-on and have a wide range of practical skills. You can learn everything from handmade jewelry making to welding, woodworking, and other creative DIY skills – guided by years of experience.
If you’re curious, open-minded, and love learning through doing – this will be a rewarding exchange.

Help
A quick reality check
This is not a polished homestead or a picture-perfect retreat – at least not yet.
Right now, everything is a bit of a mess. It’s a genuine building site with ongoing projects, piles of materials, unfinished ideas, mud, dust, tools, and plenty of organised chaos. Some days you’ll be moving rubble instead of admiring sunsets.
We’re building our dream from the ground up while raising a toddler, so flexibility and a good sense of humour go a long way. If you’re expecting a spotless property or a luxury volunteering experience, we’re probably not the right match.
But if you enjoy getting stuck in, don’t mind things being rough around the edges, and like seeing real progress happen day by day, we’d love to meet you.
Important note:
We live in the house, but we have space in our caravan, which is in really nice and clean condition, thats listed on bnb for renting. If it’s booked, you can get a bed in our hostel side of the house with bunk beds.

You'll be staying in one of our caravans, located out in the field where we're creating our future project. We want to be completely transparent: the surrounding area is currently quite messy and looks more like a building site than a finished campsite. We've recently dug drainage channels, have construction materials around, and many things are still a work in progress.
The caravan itself provides a comfortable place to sleep and relax, but the overall setting is far from polished. It's not Instagram-perfect – it's simply what we have while we build our dream step by step.
We may also have tents or additional trailers available depending on availability, and we're gradually improving the facilities as the project develops. If you're happy embracing the chaos and enjoying the countryside for what it is, you'll fit right in.
Food: We provide basic ingredients at the moment, so volunteers will need to prepare their own food. As we havent got a meal schedule except for our toddler. The caravan has basic kitchen facilities, and there’s space to cook outdoors as well, we always provide basic ingredients.
This setup is ideal for someone who enjoys a rustic lifestyle, likes their independence, and doesn’t mind living simply in a natural setting.
What else ...
The coast is only an hour away, as well as the mountains, giving you plenty of options for hikes, scuba diving, and other adventures. There’s a lot of nature around, so no matter what you enjoy, it’s simply beautiful.
