  • Description

Hi, we are looking for one housekeeping volunteer to work with us from now until April 1, the whole winter season.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to help us maintain our lodge. General routine cleaning (showers, toilets, kitchen), making beds, snow clearance, handyman skills would be ideal. Someone who is happy to wake up early, not a party person. Work in exchange for shared Japanese tatami room with one other person (male), futon beds and food budget. We are located a few minutes walk from the ski resort chairlifts.

We are based in Nozawa Onsen, a Traditional Japanese ski village in Nagano, Japan. Nozawa is also a famous onsen town with 13 free hot springs to soak in. It is one of the best ski resorts in Japan.

There will be some days when we will be too busy to ski, we organise this depending on the schedule. Usually you will be able to get up the mountain for at least a few hours.

Nozawa Onsen is a quiet traditional village with a lot of history and friendly local neighbours and this is why we love it. We try our best to promote and maintain this atmosphere, it is the type of accommodation we are. We are aimed at families, it is not a party place at all.

In your free time, you can ski, soak in the onsen, or explore the village.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying and working in a small village in Japan is in itself a fantastic cultural experience. Nozawa Onsen is over 1000 years old and many families have been in the village for many generations. From using the local Onsen, cooking and traditional weaving classes available, the day to day activities will allow use of Japanese language and taking on the infamous Japanese recycling system which is an experience in itself.
