  • Description

This a small country cottage on one acre in rural Ireland, just off the Royal Canal in County Westmeath. You can cycle the whole way along the canal from Dublin for an amazing look at the Irish countryside with no pesky cars or noise! (Alternatively you can take the Bus from Dublin). Here Dan and Paulina are starting a self sufficient farm and artists residency. We want to create an environment where creativity, sustainability, compassion, fun, good honest hard work and laughter are all in great supply! We're still at the early stages, but that means there are many many possibilities and avenues to explore!!

So far we've planted fruit trees, soft fruit bushes, dug a garden and built a small poly tunnel and done lots of painting, decorating and repair work. We have two bee hives, a few hens and a rooster, two dogs and two pigs. We are looking for someone to give us a hand in spring/summer to get the garden going, digging and planting, taking care of the animals, doing some constriction work and helping with a big spring cleaning of the house. We also want to brew beer and wine and build a sauna! If you feel you're a good fit, please send us message!! :)

    Peace and love,
    Dan & Paulina

Dan is a physicist with an interest in music, film and DIY. Paulina works in festivals/ events, design and also makes art and takes photos. Dan is Irish and Paulina is from Finland. We both want to share our lives and skills with as many people as possible and want to learn as much as we can from all sorts of people from all around the world. We always strive to be fun, fair and friendly!! We hope everyone who stays in our home feels that they gained new knowledge and at least two new friends!! :-)

  • Help

Planting a vegetable garden, digging and sowing. Small construction work and help keeping the house tidy. Also painting, brewing and various home improvements.
We won't force anyone to help so hours are flexible. We just want people to help out as much as they see fit! It's mainly about getting to know each other and having a good time.

    What else ...

In your time off you can take walks or cycles along the canal towards Dublin or Galway (we have bikes!). You can also go to the local Pub for refreshments! Alternatively you can cycle to the various lakes, woodlands and villages in the nearby region. We're also just an hour and a bit from Dublin if anyone wants to explore the fair capital. There's a regular bus every Day between the cottage and Dublin. We are also eager for people to create artwork and get involved in other projects that we may be undertaking in the areas of Art, Music and Social Justice.
