Description
Update: looking for wood worker, carpenter, plaster finisher - assist us
Update: We would like to meet people in person before deciding to make sure it’s a good match for everyone.
Secondly, we are looking for homeschool teaching skilled and motivated volunteers (one or a couple at a time). Same thing, one month minimum, but ideally for longer stays. Thank you!
Daughter - mom team building our little dream on the Oaxacan coast.
We are building a small retreat center overlooking the ocean, in the shape of caves and a few small palapas.
The property isn’t large but the ocean and the hidden beach are our front yard and the horizon is part of the living space.
We have been working on this project for almost two years now (camping) and are getting to the place where there is some habitable spaces.
While it has been a fun adventure, we are ready to share the fun with some other good souls who would add a sense of community and who would enjoy working hands on and contribute to the experience.
We can use help planting (especially now with the rainy season this is a priority), clay/mud building, also with finishing work of you happen to know how to do that, as well as building out the volunteer space and making it beautiful (think mud cave meets mini-house), as well as any talent in setting up solar systems or generally are handy around the house, can help with cooking, meals, maybe sometimes school pickup etc.
The possibilities are pretty open, although planting would be a priority the next few months.
We have direct, private beach access and there is ocean view from every corner.
The ocean can be kind of wild depending on season, so bathing, boogie boarding or skimboarding no problem, but swimming out far can be tricky because of currents.
We are a little outside of town, in the winter months the next town with restaurants and some stores can be accessed walking on the beach in 15min. In summer months the tide is higher and the beach access often cut off, which on the other hand creates a almost private beach where we are. Easiest access then is via main road, on a moped, collettivo or car.
We have two professional construction workers on site 5 days per week at the moment.
Volunteers must come with trustworthy references, given we are a mom-and-daughter team.
We have a large, sweet dog who loves company and runs on the beach, a cat and 7 chickens.Types of help and learning opportunities

Not only did they contribute to the work more than their fair share, being very goal oriented and wanting to see results from what they put in, but personally, they all became dear to our hearts. We plan to remain friends with them for a long time to… read more
