Quick update: I’m having a hard time keeping up with replies. We are mostly interested in people who are already in the area and can come meet us in person before deciding. This way everyone knows it will be a great match - both Workawayers and host. If you are in the area, please do contact. If you are looking for a place from your home country for a Workaway down the line, please consider other options. Thank you for understanding!
Daughter - mom team building our little dream on the Oaxacan coast.
We are building a small retreat center overlooking the ocean, in the shape of caves and a few small palapas.
The property isn’t large but the ocean and the hidden beach are our front yard and the horizon is part of the living space.
We have been working on this project for almost two years now (camping) and are getting to the place where there is some habitable spaces.
While it has been a fun adventure, we are ready to share the fun with some other good souls who would add a sense of community and who would enjoy working hands on and contribute to the experience.
We can use help planting (especially now with the rainy season this is a priority), clay/mud building, also with finishing work of you happen to know how to do that, as well as building out the volunteer space and making it beautiful (think mud cave meets mini-house), as well as any talent in setting up solar systems or generally are handy around the house, can help with cooking, meals, maybe sometimes school pickup etc.
The possibilities are pretty open, although planting would be a priority the next few months.
We have direct, private beach access and there is ocean view from every corner.
The ocean can be kind of wild depending on season, so bathing, boogie boarding or skimboarding no problem, but swimming out far can be tricky because of currents.
We are a little outside of town, in the winter months the next town with restaurants and some stores can be accessed walking on the beach in 10-15min. In summer months the tide is higher and the beach access often cut off, which on the other hand creates a almost private beach where we are. Easiest access then is via main road, on a moped, collettivo or car.
We have workers on site 5 days per week at the moment working on construction. Will be reducing workers progressively as spaces become more livable, but 2-3 will continue on doing the work that takes a lot of muscles and skills.
If you have a child, depending on age, she or he could go to school with my daughter (4 days per week).
Volunteers must come with top trustworthy references, given we are a mom-and-daughter team.
We have a large, sweet dog who loves company and runs on the beach and 7 chickens.

Help around the house
Living close to nature and learning about construction, building a small community at home and spending free time exploring the communities around. Creating a sense of family in a beautiful corner of the world. Enjoying beach life.
Planting and taking care of plants, building help (not the back breaking type, but building skills and handy talents are definitely a bug plus, as well as being interested in learning and doing construction work), general help around the property, sharing tasks of cooking/ shopping/cleanup, being a good person to have around a child, some dog play, being a positive, creative part of a family and creating general support and friendship.

My Spanish is pretty fluent but happy to improve always
The accommodations will change as work progresses. “Matrimonial” bed (slightly smaller than queen) in a space that needs to be build out still! Your help requested… ocean view from bed. Place will be small but, with your work, totally cute. At this moment still rough though.
You can also chose to put up a tent under palapa or roof if you prefer. We can provide tent and make it comfy.
Since we are in construction the exact arrangement is likely to change every few weeks.
Things will be getting nicer progressively. (Trust us, we’ve been camping for a year and a half and thrilled about having living spaces soon). Plenty of roof space already.
We have Wifi & functioning cell phone service here, so you can work on other things in time off. Also, Zipolite, san Agustinillo, and Mazunte are all a hop away. Weekend trips (which don’t have to be on the weekend necessarily) to the mountains, up and down the coast, etc.
We are looking for positive people to partecipate in our project and family.
New on here, so I don’t have previous experience with workaway.
However, I grew up in a comune and have plenty of experience on the co-living end, and how to make it fun and easy for everyone. Finding the right match is key!
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
This host has indicated that they love having digital nomads stay.
It’s a very steep incline to the property. If your van can handle it there is a flat ocean view spot to park it. Not our property but until someone complains it would not be a problem.
As long as they’re chicken friendly and get along with our dog…
More than two
4 hours a day, 5 days a week. Depending on arrangements
