Description
We are a german-french family with 3 grown-up children and Onno, our family dog. After having lived in Berlin for 25 years, we live now in beautiful Mecklenburg in the lake district. In Zahren we have restored a manor house (a house from the 18th century, listed as a monument) with its former horse-stable (a beautiful brick building from the end of 19th century) and its former Milkhouse within a listed park with old trees and orchards with old apple varieties and other fruits.
We host corporate teams and start-ups for offsites, retreats, strategy meetings, workation, etc.. The team sizes of our customers are most often between 10 and up to 40 people and most of them are international. Our guests are also families and groups of friends or just tourists who are willing to stay some time in the quiet and beautiful countryside.
We are looking for 4 workawayers (couples welcome) starting on 23rd August 2026 until at least 6 weeks. We need help especially with the following tasks:
- Housekeeping
- Helping in the kitchen: prep & service
- Caring and feeding chickens
Apart from that, let us know if you have experience in the following fields:
- Gardening, using a mower, maybe driving a tractor?
- Building, DIY, Caretaker
- Social Media & Web

We are paying at least the minimum German wage which is currently 13,90 EUR per hour.
We can host depending on the season up to four workawayers at the same time who are willing to stay at least 6 weeks with us and ideally more than that :-D

You can learn or improve your German with us and our housekeeping team (two young German women - One speak English and the other understands a bit) and learn how we live in the countryside, our understanding for great hospitality, good cooking and our passion for hosting.
In addition, the teams that are our guests are usually international, young and often multicultural which contribute to a nice working hospitality atmosphere.
You will surely also learn from other workawayers who work and live with you. Everyone having a personal experience and different ambitions. We try to match all for a good combination of personalities and skills.

Help
Mainly you will help us in these fields:
FOR ALL OF YOU GUYS:
- HOUSEKEEPING: you will help our housekeeping team with cleaning the apartments and public areas and preparing the spaces for our guests. We expect all spaces and outdoors clean and beautiful when the guests arrive.
- KITCHEN: help us in the kitchen cooking the meals for our guests and in service.
And depending on your skills and ambitions you would also help us here:
CHOOSE ACCORDING TO YOUR EXPERIENCE ONE OR TWO TASKS:
- prep: manufacturing products depending on the season (mostly in June and September): jams, syrups, liqueurs...
- gardening: we have a large park which needs to be maintained: mowing the grass, preparing the different areas for the next season, weeding, watering plants, gardening in the vegetables garden... Please tell us if you can drive a tractor.
- animals: our workawayers take care of our chickens and sometimes of our dog Onno.
- maintaining the buildings: sanding, painting, woodwork, fixing things...
- Web & Social Media: photos, videos, content creation, texting, planing of postings
We try to match workawayers in order to get the best combinations of personalities and skills during the whole year. We prefer Workawayer who could help us at least with HOUSEKEEPING AND KITCHEN and additionally one or two other tasks. The job is really versatile and never boring :-D

Accommodation
We can accommodate you with other coworkers in a house behind the manor house with a beautiful garden. You'll have a room for yourself and will share the kitchen and the bathroom with other workawayers.
The house is quite basic but you will have all necessary things. You have a common kitchen with a cosy fire stove. You have a fiber optic internet connection in your house and a garden to enjoy and care.
It is in your responsibility to take care of the garden around the Workaway house in your free time and also keep the house clean and tidy as well as the outdoors. -
What else ...
In your free time, there are some different outdoor activities here (we have a great disc golf parcours in the parc :-D Some other activities are right in the village or in the surroundings: bathing in the lake, cycling, hiking... the countryside is beautiful here but also can be lonely. It is important to know that our place is located in the least populated area in Germany. So, if you are looking for bars and clubs around in your free time, we might not be the ideal place for you ;-)
If you stay longer, you could visit Berlin or Hamburg, Schwerin or Güstrow, Plau am See or go to the Baltic See.
If you come with your car you would be more flexible but if not, you can borrow some bikes from us or we will drive you to the next supermarket ;-) -
