    Description

We are Maroua and Jeremie, a couple in our 40s with a 5-year-old child. We're surrounded by our two dogs (a Malinois and a Cane Corso), a sweet cat, chickens, and a thriving garden.
Our property was once a Cognac vineyard, which we've been renovating for the past 4 years.
We're passionate about sustainable living and have been developing a permaculture garden and orchard. We're also working on restoring an old washhouse near a natural spring and have a well-stocked pond for fishing enthusiasts. Beekeeping is another project we'd like to start soon.
To minimize our environmental impact, we heat our home with wood from our property. There are always plenty of tasks to keep us busy, from caring for the animals to gardening and maintaining the pond. We're looking for help to accelerate our projects and transform this place into a welcoming hub for people who appreciate nature.
We've opened our home to guests through a bed and breakfast to share our little piece of paradise with others. We're animal lovers and welcome dogs. We prioritize respecting all living things and strive to minimize our waste.
I'm not vegetarian, but my partner is. We mostly eat homegrown Mediterranean food. We can accommodate 2 Workawayers, ideally a couple with a child. We have a guest room with a double bed and an extra bed if needed.
Our region is very touristy, located at the crossroads of the Charente, Dordogne, Charente-Maritime, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Bordeaux is an hour away, Angoulême and Cognac are 30 minutes away, and the Atlantic coast is an hour's drive.
We're dynamic, open-minded people who enjoy meeting new people and sharing good times.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are of Moroccan origin but having grown up in France, me in Toulouse in the southwest, and my partner in Lille in the North. We are therefore both very welcoming people and we love to host.
It must be in our Mediterranean genes. We share a common passion for cooking and good food. We are French afterall.
We love to share and exchange with people from different backgrounds. We have traveled a lot in the past (Europe, North/South Americas, Asia) and we are very open-minded. We enjoy enriching ourselves from cultural differences.
My partner is very interested in spirituality, geobiology and everything that goes with it. As for me, I would say that I am more down-to-earth and something of a self-taught person in a very wide range of fields.
We have the idea of sharing and learning from others.

  • Help

    Help

Our project, aimed at achieving self-sufficiency, leads us to work on multiple projects throughout the seasons. As a result, there are numerous tasks that can be undertaken.
These range from developing our vegetable garden and storage capacities, maintaining and renewing the orchard, or renovating our main building and outbuildings, to maintaining the exterior (including preparing wood for winter). Our little hens would deserve a more secure shelter (the proximity of the woods and therefore wild animals has claimed a certain number).
In short, the projects follow one another and are all different.
The work we will do together will depend on the season and the priorities of the moment.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Travelers who would like to join us will have access to various spaces depending on the number of people and the season. Outside the summer period, we can provide a fully equipped and renovated apartment attached to the house with 2 bedrooms, for families with children.
Otherwise, throughout the year, we have one or two renovated guest rooms with an en-suite bathroom. I know that some travelers travel with their own home, it's not a problem at all. Our large park has magical places where vans and caravans can park and enjoy breathtaking views of the Cognac vineyards.
