Big thanks to Aza, Ana and Grandpaw. I had two fantastic months here. I could explore myself and the beautiful Island of Kauai and got inspired by all the amazing people. Aza is super open to every person and everybody can contribute their strengths for work. I did a lot of gardening, planted threes and harvested coconuts. After work we went on
… read more adventures, could use the surfboards, camping gear and cars. They even paid for the gas. It was volunteering heaven for us always 5-13 volunteers.

I had a pretty great time at this place. Meet some amazing people I hope to see again. Learned how to use power tools, roofing, painting and more. Aza, Anna and grandpaw were great host. Anna can sing, omg her voice and makes a mean banana bread (need to get her recipe). Grandpaw is the best, his dramatic sometimes but so sweet. Aza is super
… read more passionate about the project. His very generous and let us use almost everything at the house to make the most of Kauai (surfboards, vehicles, gym, sauna, camping gear, paddle board, boat ride and more)! He literally taught me how to climb a coconut tree hours before catching my flight went home buzzzing!! Wish I had more time with everyone, miss y’all <3
Nathan and Aidan showed up, had a good attitude and did the work! Good dudes.
To start, we are very grateful for this WorkAway and the opportunity it gave us to spend 4 weeks on the beautiful island of Kauai. We are so glad to have been able to do this, it was an amazing experience! There are a lot of obvious, great things about this opportunity, but I also want to help people know what to expect. Myself and the other

At the time that we applied for this, the profile was different and a bit confusing, but I think the updated profile is more accurate now. As I mentioned earlier, my friend and I stayed here for 4 weeks. We just worked on random projects cleaning and fixing up the property. This was our first WorkAway and it was definitely luxury with nice facilities and amenities to use. After being here and talking with other experienced WorkAwayers we realized this isn't a typical work exchange. The community aspect is very prevalent in the daily life for better or for worse. It's difficult to just do your work and then do your own thing during your free time. It feels like there's an expectation to get along with everyone as well as spend time with the group and the host. This can also naturally lead to a lot of drama between people. If you just want a place to stay and do your own thing, that's not really how this WorkAway is set up.
You'll have to sign a contract agreement before you come and I encourage you to actually read it so you're able to advocate for yourself if need be (we didn't have any issues). The host has his hands full and at times it seems like more than he can handle well. Most of the time we were there, he had a general idea and goal but made up a plan as we went which can make it difficult when you're trying to accomplish something. To be fair, it is a new WorkAway and the host is still figuring things out so hopefully over time things will smooth out!
Our experience was definitely chaotic but in the midst of the drama and chaos, there were lots of opportunities to have fun and explore the island! We also got to make friends and good memories with our fellow coworkers which is one of the great things about this opportunity. We were expected to work for 30 hours each week (Monday-Friday, 6 hours a day). We were able to take weekends to do longer trips across the island and spend the week day afternoons at the beach! But you should be flexible because some days are longer and you have to make sure to keep track of your hours because there's no benefit for working longer.
The host was very kind to let us use vehicles, the spa, and even his personal camping gear for a weekend camping trip! He always took care of our needs. OVERALL: This was an amazing opportunity to be a part of the project and even just experience Kauai. Lots of great perks and freedom to explore! Just be prepared to advocate for yourself as well as encounter some drama and disorganization. If you can handle that, you'll be pretty well off. Aloha 🤙Chat with Workawayers who've visited this host

Staying here was an unforgettable experience! I had the chance to get involved in a variety of rewarding tasks from filming videos to helping renovate a home, as well as clearing jungle overgrowth around the property. Every day felt meaningful and different.
Outside of work, there was no shortage of adventure from surfing at nearby beaches,
