Description
My name is Eliud 33 years old and a Ugandan by birth and nationality. I founded a non-profit community based organization in 2020 based in Kasese Municipality, Kasese District, Uganda.
My background is technology (Computer Science) but i am very passionate about community works. I am working very closely with the local leadership and community members to implement what the organization does, the community is so hospitable and welcoming to all kinds of people who are passionate about community work.
The organization's major objective is driven by environmental conservation since we are working adjacent to the river bank community and surrounded by three national parks that is Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains National Park and Kibale National Park.
Other areas of intervention include; Community Empowerment, Education Support, Community Research, Technology & Innovation, Tourism and Culture.
The organization is growing steadily with support from the local staff & leadership and the community itself however, we find it good to have intervention of international volunteers to share knowledge and expertise as well as learning our culture. We believe hosting international volunteers is a very big opportunity in a thriving environment because we learn a lot during this cultural exchange.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We believe that volunteering is not only about giving help, but also about sharing cultures, building friendships and learning from one another. We welcome volunteers from different countries and backgrounds who are interested in experiencing Ugandan culture while sharing their own traditions, experiences and ideas.
Sharing Ugandan culture and community life
During your stay, we hope to create opportunities for volunteers to connect with our local team and, where appropriate and welcomed, members of the surrounding community. Depending on schedules and community preferences, activities may include sharing meals, preparing and tasting traditional Ugandan foods, learning about local customs, music, stories, languages and everyday life.
We may also arrange informal conversations, cultural exchange sessions, community visits or shared activities where volunteers and local participants can learn from one another. Participation will always be respectful of people's time, privacy, beliefs and preferences.
Skills and knowledge we can share
Our team can introduce volunteers to aspects of Ugandan culture, local community life, community-led development and the experiences and challenges of building resilience after flooding. We hope to share knowledge about local traditions, community cooperation, agriculture, environmental awareness and the importance of supporting families and livelihoods.
Volunteers are also welcome to share their own languages, cooking traditions, professional skills, creative talents and perspectives. We value learning together through conversation, practical activities and teamwork.
What we hope to learn from you
We hope to learn about your culture, traditions, ideas and experiences, as well as different approaches to fundraising, education, environmental protection, climate resilience and community development. We are interested in building friendships, challenging assumptions, exchanging perspectives and discovering ways our communities can learn from each other.
For us, the most valuable cultural exchange is one built on mutual respect, kindness, curiosity and genuine human connection. We hope you leave with meaningful friendships, a deeper understanding of Uganda and memories of a shared experience, while we also grow through everything you bring and share.
We hope our collaboration will be an opportunity to exchange knowledge, celebrate our differences and discover how much we have in common. -
