Description
We are Pip and Hugo and we live rurally on a beautiful sheep and beef farm in Hawkes Bay. We spent most of our twenties living and travelling overseas ( Europe, UK, South America) and have since returned back to NZ to start a family and ‘settle down’.
We have a large garden and veggie garden and love to grow things, cook and spend time outside working on the property. In our family we have Frida our daughter (4months old), and Tiggy our dog, as well as chickens, ducks and the farm working dogs.
We have a large sunny house that we would love to share with you. There is plenty of space and farmland for you to explore if you like walking/hiking. We also have a pool and a tennis court that you would be welcome to use too.
The area around us is mostly rural but within 40mins-1hour drive there are wineries, restaurants, towns, beaches etc to visit.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You would experience the day to day, family life on a sheep and beef farm. We love travel and have done lots ourselves so are very interested in meeting others and enjoying other cultures. We eat meals together and enjoy sharing stories, tips and ideas. We can share cooking and gardening knowledge, as well as knowledge about NZ farming.
Help
We are after people that are energetic and interested, who are 'hands on' and show initiative.
We have a mix of inside and outside jobs around our private home and garden that we would love some help with.
Inside jobs include general maintenance, cleaning and washing, window cleaning, cooking and painting.
Outside jobs include help with general maintenance of our home and gardening such as weeding, mulching, pruning, planting, landscaping, also water-blasting. We also have some small building projects in our vege garden we'd love some help with for the right person.
We will provide everything you need for the tasks and show you how to do them, some of the time we will do them with you, other times you will be left to do them yourself.
We also ask that you help out with doing the dishes after meals and that you contribute to household chores (on top of your 5hours per day) - just general things like hanging up washing or vacuuming/wiping down the areas we use often (kitchen, living, dining etc).Languages spoken

We have a large sunny house to share with you. You would have your own room with bedding and towels provided and your own bathroom. You are welcome to make yourself at home in the living areas.
On working days we will provide:
Breakfast - help yourself to cereal or toast or eggs
Smoko 'morning tea' - tea/coffee and a snack (some baking or fruit)
Lunch - if I am around (mostly I am) I will make something - a salad/frittata/soup, or leftovers from dinner the night before. If I am in town for the day I will leave something for you to eat or make.
Dinner - a wholesome home cooked meal (you are welcome to help with this if you like!). We really love cooking and eating well, and love to take inspiration from around the world!
As we have a baby meal times can be a bit disrupted/up in the air so it would be great if you are happy being flexible or helping out :)
On weekends/non-working days we will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner if you are on the farm, if we are in town we will leave ingredients for you.
You are welcome to bring your own ingredients and use the kitchen to make anything else you would like .What else ...
In your time off you can enjoy the property - use the tennis court or pool, chill in the garden or going walking on the farm. We are not too far from town or the wineries and beaches etc so there is lots to explore in the area (up to 1 hour drive), we can help with ideas! There is no public transport so it is best if you have your own car.
We are easy going and love making each day enjoyable. So long as you are good at cleaning up after yourself, eager to help out and interested we will get on well :)A little more information

We worked 5 hours a day every morning: gardening, housekeeping, helping out on the farm. During our stay, it was our duty to help with the daily chores, help prepare meals and provide assistance, especially with Frida.
