    Description

Hi, and welcome to our lovely farm at the beautiful countryside Österlen in the south-east coast of Sweden! :-)

We are a small collective of five adults and two children (6+11 years old) sharing a big part of life. Growing our own organic food as well as our selfs, building and renovating the farm into our dream, and creating in many different ways! Ceramics, art, music, gardening, cooking, herbalism and social gatherings are some of the things we love. In the meantime enjoying the lovely quiet nature that surrounds our spot.

If you are an artist in any way, loving people, nature, cooking, gardening, renovation and creating nice environments, - this can really be your place!

During the springtime and early summer we prepare the garden, renovate in- and outdoors at the farm, have individual art projects and create a nice environment for the summer. In July we will open up for the public to come and visit our ceramic-, art and craft shop and our gallery. We need help mainly with the garden during the summertime. In August and september we will focus on renovation and the garden, taking care of the veggies for our meals and for the rest of the season. we aim on being sel sufficient with vegetables during most of the year.

We also have cats and chickens, sharing the care for them. The cats will definitely come and visit you, so allergy would be a challenge at this place.

We usually share meals, mostly vegetarian. Our model is having an afternoon each when we prepare a bigger amount of food. Sometimes two persons are cooking together. This is a lovely way to every day enjoy a nice, nourishing meal together and get inspiration from each others cooking. You will also be part of this model.

The farm is surrounded by a little stream, meadows with cows, forrest and amazing old oak trees. No neighbors to see. It is very quiet. We love to be outside cooking, eating and playing music by the bonfire. We also have an outdoor sauna by the stream and outdoor cold shower. Unfortunately the stream often dries out in summertime but usually until midsummer, we can use our little natural bathtub in the stream.

We will spend most of theme outdoors and lifestyle is simple standard during summertime since we are renting out our regular homes and move out in caravans, the barn and food truck. If you enjoy and can adjust to a simple but cosy lifestyle this will be awesome!

    This is your hosts:
    - JOHAN is our amazing chef and musician who can create whatever into delicious food or unique instruments. Johan sees possibilities in every single situation and will always make sure that the farm will develop.
    - NIKLAS (twin brother with Johan) is our multi-artist and building constructer, who shapes clay and draw faces as heartfull as the tones coming out of his music. He is a clay master and enthusiastic talented artist in many ways.
    - MILLA is our cyclic being who sees metaphors in all living nature and adore things to celebrate, especially the seasons. She is able to guide you into a meaningful relationship with nature and a way to dance with both soul, soil and stories.

    And our Kids, the cousins:
    - ALBIN is our 11 year old pro in assimilating into every situation with a smile as well as following his impulses to craft, play and run to the hills.
    - MINOA is our 6 year old wise little animal shapeshifter who dare to ask all the simple and deep questions in life as well as drawing rainbows and loving good sweets´n treats.

We also have two other dear male members in the collective which you will spend time with as well, since we share a big part of daily life.

Together we never stop visualizing how we as persons and collective can develop and take care of the farm and each other. We are all interested in living a good life with all aspects of what that might mean to everyone. It is important for us to have our own space and family time as well as socializing.

Welcome to come and stay with us if all of this resonates with you! We prefer to have you at least 2 weeks in order to deepen the exchange. It is our second season with Work Away and we had such great exchanges that we want to continue! We have a lot of experience of having different kind of volunteers during the 9 years living at the farm and we love all the beautiful meeting with people.
Communication and care taking is important keywords for us as a group. It would be amazing to share skills, culture, language, heart- and lifevisions with you!
So please contact us if you feel called. (Milla is our "communicator")

Hope to meet you soon. Stay curious and open to life :-)
Best regards from the team here!

    Accommodation

    Accomendation springtime:
A room in the house, suiteble for a couple or two friends. it can also be a camping wagon. We will of course try to find the best solution for you.

    Summertime (from June):
Shared space with other work awayers (max 4 people) on the attic in the barn.

Toilet, shower and kitchen is in other buildings.

The atic space is not insulated but works well for sleeping and hang out during summertime. There you will might share space with 2-4 other work awayers depending on the situation. Blankets will separate the attic space into smaller "rooms" for each one and you are able to set your own personal touch on the area. There is electricity.

You are also able to combine sleeping in tent in the surrounding nature if you prefer. It´s good if you can bring your own tent in that case.

OBS! We do not have wifi but can share internet with you from our mobile phones when needed. We will invite you into a simple lifestyle remembering where we come from, with a close relationship to the elements, nature, creativity and each other. Connection is where we start. :-)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In the nearby there are small villages and beautiful nature! Closely you find the ocean with nice sand beaches, hills, cliffs, waterfalls and forrests. Grocery store are 7 km away. Our nearest village is Vitaby, very small, but there you find places to eat and a cultural café.

You are able to borrow bicycles and we would like to bring you to our favorite places during time off.

The area Österlen is famous for the special light and variation of nature. Many artist live here and people often come to create their dreams. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, art- and cultural platforms as well as historical places to visit, so in summertime there´s a lot of tourists. Busses and trains along the whole area of southern Sweden called Skåne is available. On the west coast we have the bigger cities Malmö and Lund if you like to breathe some city air. That is 2 hours by bus/train or 1 hour 15 min with car.

Milla will guide you how to arrive and you are free to ask whatever you need to know in order to apply.
