Need help to maintain a precious, beautiful boutique hotel during COVID19 quarantine in Manabi, Ecuador
We are in need of a male volunteer to help maintain and improve The Cottages by the Sea for the next, what we expect to be couple of months minimum, while we remain closed.
Here are the requirements:
A willingness to do any chore required (from cleaning up dog poop, to re-varnishing a table top)
Must be funny, outgoing and love to have an occasional card game, with a nice cold beer
A spirit of gratitude
A love of animals, (not like, LOVE) to help care for our gang of 4 dogs and 2 cats
Someone who can cook for themselves. We will occasionally share meals, but I don't want to become a chef :-)
25 hours a week of work
Here are the benefits:
Free lodging at one of the cutest and highest rated hotels on the coast
A chilled back atmosphere on the beach, where you can enjoy your spare time in the pool or in a hammock
Lots of free time (I work a second job so I disappear into my office each day for a few hours
An independent cottage, directly in front of the beach, where you will hear the waves day and night
Your own full kitchen, and living room, with sofa, eating area, as well as your separate bedroom, hot water
Netflix/flat screen tv
5G fiber-optics internet service
A safe atmosphere, where COVID protocols are respected
$150 per month, plus an additional $80 for food
YOU CAN STOP STRESSING ABOUT HOW TO GET THROUGH THE SHUT-DOWN :-)
Please contact me immediately if you have an interest as I need someone within 2 weeks (my volunteer of 8 months is going to try to get back to his family in Venezuela).

You will learn about life in a small authentic fishing village in Ecuador. You will meet many locals as well as expatriates and undoubtedly some great new friends We focus on the customer experience (check out our ratings) and so we can help you log some great hospitality experience if that is in your future goals. You will learn about local cuisine, customs and traditions and we encourage you to get involved with our greater community when you are not helping us out on the property! THIS OBVIOUSLY HAS CHANGED WITH COVID...WE FOLLOW LEGAL REGULATIONS. :-)
The Cottages are located on a long sandy beach, in a rural fishing village in San Alejo, which is almost exactly half way between Manta and Bahia, in Manabi province. There are small family owned restaurants, and a couple of ex-pat hang outs, but not much more of a social scene, outside of the disco on the weekends, so if you are looking for the bright lights, and you don't mean the stars, this probably isn't for you. Also, you must be a seafood lover, as our community is based on the fishing industry, and you would be left to lentils and bananas without enjoying some ceviche in your diet! This is a sun lover's paradise, and it's not for the fair of skin or faint of heart when it comes to roughing it with our doggies on the beach and exploring the village. The village is very authentic, so your experience will not be just 'touristy'. This is a great opportunity for the right person/people, as you will have a lot of free reign and beautiful accommodations during your stay. Many lifelong friendships have been made here! We have a great community here (both local and expats), and you most likely will make friends quickly, and feel right at home in no time. Our staff, including volunteers, acts as a crazy family, and we enjoy spending time together on and off shift. We often will cook for each other, (not to be counted in your work hours), have a cold beer after work, or explore run errands together. We are looking for someone who is not just looking for a place to put down their bags and work in exchange for housing, but for people who really want to become part of our troupe. :-)
New cottage, with walk in shower (hot water!), Flat screen TV, air conditioning, DirecTV, fridge!
There is lots to do in this beautiful fishing village from beach activities, to mountain biking, expat functions including poker nights, art classes, karaoke, sunday brunches, hanging out in our amazing pool and more.
This is a great opportunity to integrate with the friendly local community and learn Spanish, Ecuadorian cooking, or about the amazing history and archeology in the area. Your food will be the same as the locals, so liking seafood is a must. Lots of rice, veggies, fruits, fish and chicken, but not a lot else.....the nearest proper grocery store is an hour away!
Of course, there are always hammocks, for enjoying our year round sunny skies too! Please no heavy drugs.
