We are a family of three: myself Theres 59 my husband Fritz 59 and our daughter Sonja 23. We also have two cats Amy and Lucy.
Our organic farm is 1400 meters above sea Level, in the middle of beautiful mountains. Our home is in Gimmelwald, a small farmer village. We have 10 cows for beef production. From May to October we need many helping hands. Also in winter we have enough help for one workawayer. We have had helpers from all over the world and are happy to exchange experiences with all kinds of people. Please only apply when you are really interested to come, and please realise that the help can be really hard and sometimes dirty.
You have the possibility to stay in one of the most famous Tourist Areas of the world doing sports such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, sky diving, etc. and seeing wonderful montains and enjoy peace and nature. You can also learn Swiss German and learn about farming.Skiing starts in december and ends in april.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Depending on the season and weather conditions, the help could be any of the following:
• Making hay on steep grassland.
• Building or removing fences
• Cleaning the grassland from stones, pine-cones, etc.
• Cleaning the barn and feeding the cows
• Cutting wood for the fireplace.
In winter the help is from 7-9 am and from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. In summer we start at 9:00. This would give you plenty of time to ski, hike, and explore the beautiful region.
Please, bring your hiking boots, warm clothes, rain jacket. If you are in good shape and like being outdoors in nature, you will enjoy your stay here.

Our village Gimmelwald is near to Mürren on the side of the valley of Lauterbrunnen. Both villages are car-free! So you can only get here by cable-car or by foot.
Our area is a well-known tourist destination with big mountains and white peaks. The highlights are Schilthorn and Jungfrau. There are also streams of water and forests; which makes it excellent for hiking, photo taking, and skiing (in winter time).
It is easy to use cable car to reach Schilthorn, Jungfrau or many other places.
The Jungfrau is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps, located between the southern canton of Bern and the northern canton of Valais, halfway between Interlaken and Fiesch.
Once difficult to access, the Jungfraubahn cog railway now goes to the Jungfrau railway station at 3,454 m (11,332 ft), the highest in Europe. The Jungfraujoch is the lowest pass between the Jungfrau and Mönch.
A large complex of tunnels and buildings has been constructed at the Jungfraujoch, mostly into the south side of the Mönch. There is a hotel, two restaurants, an observatory, a research station, a small cinema, a ski school, and the "Ice Palace", a collection of elaborate ice sculptures. Another tunnel leads outside to a flat, snow-covered area, where one can walk around and look down to the Konkordiaplatz and the Aletsch Glacier, as well as the surrounding mountains.
Apart from the Jungfraujoch, many facilities have been built in the two valleys north of the Jungfrau (the commonly named Jungfrau Region). In 1908, the first public cable car in the world opened at the foot of the Wetterhorn, but was closed seven years later. The Schilthorn above Mürren or the Männlichen above Wengen offer good views of the Jungfrau and other summits.
