Care-taking and handling help wanted for family-run sled-dog kennel in Kasilof, Alaska.
Must be 21+. Couples O.K. Pets O.K. Non-U.S. citizens welcome. No experience necessary, but must be responsible, hard-working, non-smoker, non-drinker, non-partier. Help is 2-3 hours a day most days.
Provided: dry cabin, heating oil, electric. Water/showers available in town. Stay can be 3, 6, or 12 months.
Lifestyle is in remote location and we garden (organic), raise chickens, and set-net for salmon for much of our food. Nature opportunities and wildlife viewing in your free time are exceptional. Great opportunity to live in Alaska, and learn how to mush from Iditarod/Quest veteran.

We live in a semi-remote location in Alaska. This is a great opportunity to learn about humane mushing from an Iditarod/Yukon Quest veteran. Lots of free time to explore an area with numerous hiking trails, lakes and rivers to canoe, and world-class fishing opportunities. Those who enjoy wildlife, nature, and art will find much to inspire them.
Primarily looking for someone to assist with husbandry chores (feeding, cleaning, administering medicine, etc) for 32 dog mushing kennel. Tasks only takes 2-3 hours most days. In fall and winter you will assist with running dogs by four-wheeler and dog sled. Interested in teaching our daughter Spanish too, so (slight) preference given to those bilingual.

Accommodation is in your own 16' x16' cabin with a half-loft for sleeping. Heater, oven, and refrigerator come with cabin. Heating oil and electricity are included. Water/showers/laundry available in town. You would be responsible for purchasing your own food in town. Dogs are allowed in the cabin and there is a large fenced pen out front too. In summer, there are lots of nearby commercial-fishing jobs for those looking to make income outside of the hours helping at our kennel.

We enjoy nature photography/panting and there are lots of artists in this community. We garden for much of our food and you are welcome to plant, maintain, and harvest your own beds.
