Description
We are a creative Moroccan-American entrepreneurial homeschooling family of 4. We are ready to welcome a Workaway to support our family in our home learning environment in Morocco. We are committed to fun, holistic, and individualized 'brave learning' for our 2 children and hope to offer a creative 'learning lab' for children in our local community in the coming year. This is a great fit for someone who loves children, early education, and has an interest or background in inspiring young minds.
A bit about us. Mom (Heather) is a social-impact entrepreneur with an artisan fashion business and Dad (Mohammed) is a civil engineer and serial entrepreneur (he is always working on a new project). Hiba (age 10) is a sporty gymnast, and she loves fashion. Youssef (age 8) has an engineering mind and enjoys building boats, Minecraft and Legos. We love all things off the beaten path, picking wildflowers, crafting and art, and country drives.
We are new Workaway hosts and looking forward to welcoming you in sunny Morocco. Marhaba!Types of help and learning opportunities

This is an opportunity to learn about Moroccan culture, food, and life with a cross-culture family. This is also an opportunity to have social impact and contribute to the education of young people in North Africa. It is our hope that by approaching learning differently we can inspire the next generation to be change-makers. We also love the idea of our children learning about different cultures, ideas, social impact and food. We love Morocco and are excited to share our home and country with you.

Help
We are looking for a WOMAN to stay with our family who has an interest in holistic education (think Waldorf-style), out-of-the-box thinking, and play to engage with our homeschooled children (ages 8 and 10) in fun activities and lessons during the day in between their classes on Outschool. You would be helping them make their learning engaging with hands-on activities in our home and in our Moroccan community.
Activities might include:
Taking walks, bike rides, playing tennis, reading, assisting in science experiments, gardening, visiting the library, exploring cooking and baking, prepping for lunch, sparking conversations and cultural exchange, building with Legos, and basic help and cleanup around the house. We use iPads and technology in our house and in our learning, however we would like to limit screen-time and add enriching real-life experiences! Teaching experience is a plus.
Our homeschool model adjusts as we go, we recognized there are a few hours in the middle of each day where we need support (11am-1pm, 2-3pm some days) and again in the late afternoon 5-7pm (mostly for Youssef age 8). We have a creative art studio on our ground floor (think beads, buttons, paint, markers, wood scraps, and fabric). We call this our 'Workshop' and it is used as an art and maker's space. Our vision is to open this to other children in our community in the coming year.Languages

We are happy to help with English or Arabic. My daughter is interested in learning Korean and has started to teach herself.Accommodation
We have a rooftop guestroom with a twin bed and desk in our sunny, modern, home in Khouribga, Morocco. The space has a kitchenette, WC, and a beautiful shared rooftop sitting area. This space is mostly private, it's attached to our laundry room, so expect company on laundry days :). Wifi. Lunch during the week with the family is provided (couscous, Moroccan tagine, yum!) and a light dinner Moroccan style. We appreciate help with occasional meals and snacks if you like to cook.
What else ...
You are welcome to adventure with us as a family on weekends or to travel on your own. Some Saturdays we head to the sea in Casablanca for a daytrip and on Sundays we go to the local souk for vegetables and flea market finds. Morocco is always interesting; we love taking the road less traveled and spending time in nature.
-Our home is 1.5 hours from Casablanca by bus.
-(1 hour 20mins from Casablanca's airport by car).
-2 hours from Morocco's capital of Rabat.
-3.5/4 hours from Marrakech by train or bus.A little more information
