  • Description

Our family here on the island of Samothraki consists of four beings, Thodora, Maria, Luna(our dog) and Penny(our cat). We also have a daughter who lives on the mainland. We(the human part of us) are working with therapeutic techniques like shiatsu, massage, sound therapy and other meditative approaches. We both love gardening, nature and holistic harmony with the environment.

Our dream is to bring joy, creativity, music, maintain the garden and see it flourish and give fruits.Protect it and make it a peaceful meditative farm that hosts people from all over the world.
Lots of things to be done one step at a time, moment to moment action since it is the first year we actively work with the land.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living in a place and getting to know its real way of life, way of working, relaxing, its unique pace is the best way to visit a place we believe and meet its people of course as the main element.
We can exchange through work the local ways of working with the land and of course our own ways. We can exchange through verbal sharing, through meditation, through experience, through food, through movement, through music...through playing, through meeting with our friends.
We want to visit with you landmark places and introduce you to how local people live and survive with all the challenges and gifts we are receiving. Introduce you to local products and local activities..
Just share with you our own way of life and receive from you your own ways. This is the path of mutual enrichment.

The little farm house is totally independent from our own house and is in a distance of 20min walking from our home in Chora which is the closest living village to the garden. There is no electricity at the house but there is running water.
There is a very basic outdoor kitchen installations but you can also cook indoors. The house is small but cute surrounded by amazing nature, trees, plants, a running stream. It has one main room with one sofa bed downstairs and a mezzanine bed on top close to the roof. There is a little bathroom-shower with a wood heater for warm water and a toilet that has an outside communication with the house through stairs and a small storage room next to it. There is a wood stove for heating but you need to collect and make your own wood. The place is great but needs guts and searches for people who are very accustomed to live in Nature with not so much comfort and facilities especially for the Autumn Winter season.

We are looking for a person who can live alone in those circumstances or a couple who wants to live a more close to nature life for a while.
The place is ideal for artists who need a lot of quiet alone time to create.
Our work and food arrangements now: We would like to have a house sitting arrangement with minimum working hours of about 5 hours per day for 5 days.
If you need wifi then we can arrange some days you can visit our home and connect with the world.
What we provide is an amazing location, delicious food and a lot of independency, sharing moments and aloneness for you. We would like to share a more independent way of living for all of us.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During your time off you can explore this amazing island and its many natural beauties.Ancient forests, waterfalls and cool pools in the many various river complexes unique in the Aegean Sea. Hiking, trekking, canyoning, walking around and get to know the beautiful landscape, swimming in the Sea, visiting the archeological site of the Great Gods, fishing, taking a hot bath in the therapeutic thermal springs, involve with other eco communities and participate in their various activities, meet more workawayers and local people . If you love hiking then it is good to know that the mountains here are many and interesting with the peak of the mount Saos reaching the 1611m height(third tallest in the Aegean)
In the summer the island is quite lively with cultural events taking place, festivals, open movie cinema, dance, well being workshops, music is all around and people move everywhere. The rest of the year life is much calmer, slow paced and dedicated to what needs to be done seasonally. Here life moves exactly as the seasons change.
The capital village of the island is called Chora and is a 20 minute walk from the farm house and you can find the basic shops for food supplies. The port Kamariotissa 5km away from Chora though is the place you can find most of the shops, banks and etc. It is connected with a bus every few hours and you can always hitch hike on Samothraki everywhere.
Samothraki can be reached by ferry from Alexandroupolis (2hours duration trip) on the mainland which also has an airport and bus and train links to (4 hours by bus from Thessaloniki central bus station Macedonia to Alexandropolis )Thessaloniki, Athens and Istanbul.
