    Description

My name is Lázaro. My father was a farmer, to whom I am very grateful for having instilled in us ideas of conservation of flora and fauna. He used to say that one of the most effective forms of conservation is "when we take ownership of our natural resources and make them part of our daily lives". Living here all my life has allowed me to witness the loss of ecosystems due to deforestation, illegal logging, cattle ranching, agriculture, charcoal production, uncontrolled tourism, poaching and fires over the last 30 years in the state of Campeche. Since then, my family of 6 and I have worked for the dream we shared with my father: to maintain a nature reserve that conserves the environment and to live in harmony with nature.

El Rancho Casados is a family project focused on biodiversity restoration through reforestation and sustainable farming for more than 20 years in the State of Campeche, Mexico.

For more than 20 years, the reserve is being used for:

    - conservation of existing rainforest
    - reforestation of previously deforested areas
    - ecological agriculture, permaculture, honey production, rescue of native bees
    - creation of habitats for wildlife, such as: Tepezcuintles, Mayan Bees, Howler Monkeys, Peccaries, Coatis, Armadillos, Margays, Tayras, White-tailed Deer, Sereques, as well as many types of trees and other plants
    - Breeding and release of endangered species.
    - natural rainwater ponds that are used for wildlife, but must be supplied with water during the dry season (January-June).
    - academic education and dissemination of conservation information to students and travelers
    - community involvement and creating synergies with the government

    Help

We are in urgent need of a well that will provide the rainforest, the ecological agriculture as well as the community (25 households) with fresh water in the dry season. To acquire the necessary funds, we have just set up a crowdfunding campaign. We need someone who is willing to promote the campaign both online (Social Media, Foundations etc.) and offline to our guests.

Next to this work, the volunteer accompanies us throughout our daily work at the ranch and in the rainforest, learns about nature conservation and supports with varying tasks, such as: planting, maintenance of agricultural facilities, farm activities with the animals etc.

Also i need to learn the basic languaje French, I will appreciate if you can teach me.
When contacting me, please specify your interests in volunteering and the skills you have (both for practical works as well as fundraising/marketing or if you can teach french).
