    Description

I am a German woman in my sixties (but young at heart ;-) ) who started a new life here on La Palma in 2022. My finca has 4500 sqm land which I hope to convert into an ecological perma-culture garden to become self-contained, veggie and fruit-wise. So there will be a lot of digging to put up some new beds and high-beds. There are overgrown terraces which have been used for growing veggies before. As they have fertile soil I want to revive them. Old trees have to be trimmed, new trees to be planted to use the arid space, regular watering and weed picking is required. Also the buildings need some light care every once in a while because everything wears down pretty fast due to the impact of the sun. I have a chicken coop with four hens (Alma, Bonita, Celia and Dahlia) who need attention but also provide an egg a day each! My two lovely dogs - Tom and Iva - are very friendly and love to be cuddled or taken for a walk. In November 2026 two lovely, orange kitten (brother an sister) completed our family. As for me I am an easy going person, good for a laugh, flexible, reliable, and empathetic. I love hiking, yoga, reading, singing, cooking and much more. Food-wise I call myself a 'flexitarian', meaning I mainly cook veggie dishes but also fish and meat now and then.
Looking forward to greeting you in my little paradise!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am a world travelled woman and always like to meet new people from different backgrounds with whom I want to share my new home. If you like nature you can go walking or hiking with me and I can show you the beauty of the island. Besides in Germany I have lived in Florida, Nepal, Tanzania and Dubai so there is lots to talk about different cultures.

Your day will begin with caring for the animals. The other tasks vary depending on season and weather: gardening, general help and odd tasks around the household. Tasks can also be physically hard at times!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will stay in a beautiful little studio (built in 2023) next to my house with bathroom and kitchenette. We will have lunch together which I cook for us, sometimes also dinner. I will provide food for all your meals which we don't share.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I live in the south of the island with beautiful sea view. The main village (Los Canarios) of Fuencaliente is 500m down the road where you can get everything. There is a bus station where you can travel east (to Santa Cruz, the capital) or west (to Los Llanos the biggest town) or down to several beaches. Right at the house you can start many walks/hikes. I'd gladly give you a lift when I use the car..

    Paco (11 months)

Paco is the brother of Lina and has ataxia. He runs in a funny way, has problems with jumping, and sometimes falls down due to neurological problems. But he is a funny, lovable little guy who enjoys life.

    Lina (11 months)

Lina and Paco are sister and brother and completed our pack at the age of 14 weeks.

Alma, Bonita, Celia and Dalia (1 year)

    Iva (8 years)

Iva the 'diva', that's her nick name. She always gets her way and her 'son' Tom will always let her be the first in everything - but in racing competitions. Iva was 9 month when Tom arrived at the age of 10 weeks and she immediately adopted him as his baby. While Tom is always obedient, Iva can be quite cheeky at times. Yet she always knows when she did wrong.

    Tom (7 years)

Tom is a mongrel with herding attitude. He always cares about his 'flock'. If you walk him, he always comes back, surrounds you and checks if everything is okay. Same thing when swimming - he always checks if everything is okay. He is well trained, always walks without leash and waits in front of the shops when we go into the village. Iva is only 6 months older but she acted as his mother. They love each other dearly and play a lot.
