  • Description

    Description

We are Mélanie and Nicolas and we live in a home that is gradually moving towards self-sufficiency near Saint-André-en-Royans, at the foothills of the Vercors mountains. We share our place with animals, a productive vegetable garden and lots of nature all around. Our daily life is simple and practical, guided by the seasons: cutting firewood, growing food, cooking, repairing, maintaining the land and feeding the animals.

In today’s fast-paced modern world, coming to help here is often a way to reconnect with something simple: working with your hands, learning useful skills and taking part in meaningful, practical tasks.

We are looking for volunteers from April 6th to April 17th to help with the life of the place:

    • Garden: planting, mulching, weeding, composting, etc.
    • Land: firewood, gravel, planting, maintenance, walnuts, etc.
    • Animals: feeding, cleaning and maintaining the shelters, etc.

We usually work in the morning, so everyone can enjoy the afternoon to rest, explore the area or simply slow down and enjoy the surroundings. The Vercors region offers many possibilities: hiking, swimming in rivers, small villages and beautiful nature everywhere. Hitchhiking works well in the area and makes it easy to get around.

Volunteers stay in a small, simple and cozy little house. It is a shared space with bunk beds, a small living area and a bathroom corner. The dry toilets are outside and the shower is solar.

A large outdoor table is the perfect place to gather after work: chatting, sharing a drink, playing board games or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Mélanie takes care of the cooking and we all share lunch and dinner together.

If you would like to experience the simple life of a countryside home and learn by taking part, you are very welcome here.

    See you soon,

Mélanie, Nicolas and the whole happy crew of fur, feathers and hooves

    ---
