    Description

We are a family of four: Nicolas and Solène, along with our two children — Noam, a lively 3½-year-old boy, and Emmy, our joyful 10-month-old baby girl.

Originally from France, we moved to Vancouver in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the city and its surrounding nature. What started as an adventure soon became home, and we’re grateful to be raising our family in such a beautiful place. Both of us work as Designers here in Vancouver.

We love spending time outdoors, whether it’s a simple walk to the neighborhood park, a summer hike, or skiing in the winter (though these days it’s a little more challenging with little ones!).
At home, we enjoy relaxing with a good movie, sharing meals with friends, or playing the occasional board game.

Solène enjoys reading and practicing yoga, while Nicolas is passionate about sports, especially soccer.
Our son, Noam, is full of energy and loves running, jumping, biking, and all kinds of ball games, though he’s just as happy quietly building with his Duplo blocks or playing with his train set.
Emmy is a cheerful baby who delights in music, loves splashing in water, and is busy exploring the house as she crawls around.

We are a French-speaking household but are happy to switch to English whenever needed.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

With us, you’ll have the chance to share in a real cultural exchange. We’ve also been Workawayers ourselves in New Zealand and Canada, so we understand how valuable these stays can be and want to offer the same opportunity here in Vancouver.

We enjoy cooking and are happy to prepare meals from our home country, while also looking forward to discovering yours.

Having traveled widely — including a one-year world tour — we enjoy exchanging travel stories and experiences.

We’d be glad to show you some of our favorite local spots, and if you’re interested, we can help you practice or learn French.

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for a reliable and caring helper to support us during an important transition: both of us are returning to work, and our baby girl, Emmy is beginning daycare.

Since Emmy will be gradually adjusting to her new routine, we expect she may need shorter days at daycare at first. A key part of the role will be helping with mornings and afternoons — getting the kids ready, and caring for Emmy for about 2–3 hours a day during the week (generally around 8:00 to 9:30am and 3:00 to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, depending on how her day goes).
Outside of those times, we’d appreciate support with regular household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, dishes, and other daily chores.

We’re aiming for a 25-hour-per-week arrangement. While we need your availability during the specific times to care for Emmy, the rest of the hours can be flexible and organized in the way that works best for you.

    Accommodation

You would be having your bedroom in our house, with a sofa-bed, a closet and a desk, and access to a shared-bathroom.
Since we are a family with young kids, we would really appreciate someone who is very cautious about not making noises in the evening.
You might occasionally hear our baby cry at night - although the bedroom is on the other side of the house so it should not be too loud.
The 2 kids tend to be up around 6:30 am, so if you are a light sleeper you might hear them.

You’re welcome to share meals with us — sometimes prepared by us, sometimes by you — or, if you prefer, help yourself from the fridge when you want to eat at a different time.

We live in a walkable, family-friendly neighbourhood in the south of Vancouver with everything you need close by. (shops, coffee, parks, library...)
We are located 40 min away from downtown Vancouver by transit (bus + skytrain).
