We are Emma and Ompi, a Franco-Colombian ( Wayuu ) couple and ocean lovers who have recently created their own kiteboarding school in a small village in the middle of the Colombian desert with the Carribean sea as our playground ! We live and share our daily routine with the Indian Wayuu people from the village. Life in Cabo de la Vela is like nowhere else, it is pretty basic but you will fall in love with it. We are very keen in welcoming volunteers to allow them to discover all that this place has to offer, beautiful sunsets, nights under the stars, discovering the Wayuu way of life, tasting incredible seafood ... And many more !

In exchange for your help, if you are an independent rider we offer you to use our equipment when it is not needed for classes.
If you have never practiced kiteboarding before we would be delighted to introduce you to this amazing sport and incredible family by offering you a 30% discount on our full course and will offer you your own IKO certification !
But not only that, you will have the one in a lifetime opportunity to live right on the beach, sharing everyday with our team of instructors, our friends, discovering the lifestyle, meet visitors from all over the world and be one of the lucky ones able to live amongst the Wayuu community, discovering and sharing their unique culture and traditions.
We opened In May 2018 and to prepare for this next high season ( Mid April 2019 ), we are looking for help in different areas:
-photography ( taking photos of our clients during their courses so that we can then send them as a souvenir )
-yoga classes, 1 hour in the morning and maybe 1 in the evening
-social media, help us be more visible on social media by doing a few posts on Instagram and Facebook
-art projects, we are open to artists so if you wish, feel free to get creative !
-kiteboarding enthusiasts to help on the beach
As everyone in Cabo de la Vela, you will sleep in a Chinchorro. These king size hammocks are hand made by the Wayuu women and are incredibly comfortable! We, the owners, hang up our Chinchorros to sleep in the school but you will have your little spot facing the Caribbean Sea, in the hut neighbouring the school. It is the common sheltered area where other tourists sleep, dormitory style but it is very spacious and you can hang up your Chinchorro wherever it pleases you. The shelter is equipped with electricity and light for you to charge your electricals in the evening. You will have your own locker to secure your personal items and will use the tourists shower area and toilet.
Our schedules and structure do not enable us to include meals in our offer ( we don't have a cook ! ) although we are happy to share whenever we can and if we do, we expect you to do the same.
In the mornings we share coffee with our team and we often do our famous BBQs on the beach and other events involving food to which you will of course be invited. Our volunteers will be able to cook their food in our shared kitchen and will have their own cupboard to secure their food.
Please be warned that there is no Wifi in the entire village, we strongly recommend you buy a Claro SIM card if you wish to have Internet access ( other network suppliers do not catch signal in Cabo so it must be Claro ). Living conditions are very different from other places in Colombia but we are sure you will fall in love with this simple way of living and reconnect with nature and yourself. We are very dedicated in making sure you have all you need and feel comfortable in order to give you the chance to enjoy your experience to the fullest !
Although time flies when your having fun, you will have plenty of time to explore and we would be happy to help you out organising your trips to the nearby beaches, sand dunes, go on a trip to Punta Gallinas, to Macuira, to Manaure, the salt flats, see flamingos, go fishing with the locals, learn local arts and crafts and share the love and good energy !
