Description
THE CULTURE
We are coming from the permaculture & transition towns movement and we are friends and partners in projects with international ecovillages & communities. We love people and nature and want to hold the space for quality and responsible relationships with our guests, sharing the know-how and being open to learn from different cultures..
We work in 2 gardens, one in the village - Domnesti, and one in the city (Bucharest).
THE SEED GARDEN:
The main garden: cultivated and wild areas, all together 1500 sqm.
Cultivating traditional varieties in danger of loss: vegetables, flowers and fruit trees, and multiplying them in order not to lose them.
We want to bring back into the farmers' gardens the tasty and healthy heirloom varieties. It is about nature's abundance, resilient communities, food sovereignty and not only.
Techniques used in the garden: traditional agriculture, permaculture techniques, regenerative agriculture.
We are seeding, planting, watering, harvesting, composting, saving seeds.
The Show-Garden:
At least once a week we work in the Show-Garden we created in the city
This is a green oasis in the capital, a house of ethical entrepreneurs we belong to, where on a small plot we cultivate some of the varieties we saved: vegetables, aromatics and traditional flowers.
HOSTING:
A tiny 3X3m) wood house with a small porch, designed by an natural houses architect and built with volunteers.
A bell tent.
Conditions: a compost toilet and a solar heated shower. A small electric stove and also a gas stove, a rocket (bricks) stove.
We recent installed a solar panel (yeey!) and so we are quite a nice off - grid sit!
THE PEOPLE:
Adina and Emil are your hosts. Adina works as a psychologist and she is the founder of the seed bank. Emil is a permaculture teacher and coordinates the gardens and activities. They come to work usually with other volunteers or wwofers hosted.
We look for hosting and working with self reliable persons, that already have some experience with garden work, know to cook for themselves and love to live off-grid.
