We spent two weeks with this wonderful family. They were very welcoming, we felt like part of the family from the beginning. We stayed in the little cabin with bed and kitchen and an extra toilet outside, but we were always welcome in the main house. Our work was mainly painting one room and a bit of weeding. They gave us a few options to make

Moose and Rebel are the cutest big babies :) They always cooked lunch and dinner for everyone. We really loved their easy, healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we had the best conversations until late after dinner and learned a lot from Chris and Viv. In our freetime we could relax in the calm surroundings or visit Wexford. They often offered us a lift or we could use the bikes. A great thing for us was also to be able to play piano again after a long time :)
Thanks for everything and take care,

Absolutely amazing experience. The warm welcome and stay with Chris and his family even their pets. Everyday organization of our tasks was brilliant, depending on the weather, working in the polytunnel or the orchard. Wellington boots and raincoats were esencial.

I spent 9 days at Chris’s house, and it has been a fantastic experience. The house is surrounded by the Irish countryside. The family is very friendly and was always available to talk to me. They have a wide culture, and I could chat with them about History, Sustainability, Music, Sports, and other themes. It was perfect to improve my English and
… read more to know the Irish culture and not only since they had lived in various countries. They carry on an admirable lifestyle trying to be as sustainable as possible. The house is simple but with all the necessities, WIFI included. I slept in a container converted into a cabin with a beautiful glass wall from which you can admire the surrounding green. The cabin didn’t have a bathroom and WIFI but it wasn’t a problem since I could spend as much time as I want in the house. I went to the cabin only to sleep but you can take advantage of it to spend some private moments. There are also some other spaces where you can spend time on your own, even with WIFI, if you need to hold some private video call for example.
Most of my work tasks took place in a greenhouse and in the orchard. I had to lose some soil, move it with the wheelbarrow, cut the grass, move some pruned branches and paint some outside walls of the house. Chris teaches you how to do lots of things, with lots of patience, and without pressure.
During my free time, I could spend time with the family, have a walk around, have a ride on the bicycle, visit Wexford, and even visit Saltee Island where I could see puffins but it is a little further. If you want to get to Wexford you have to use the bike but if they can, the parents will do anything to get you there by car.
I thank them for everything and wish the whole family the best. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
