    Description

    Hello Workawayers,
I am currently mostly unavailable as I'll be soon working 300km north in Kone. So only if you already have a strong sailing background or any specific wood or mechanical knowledge will I be able to host you. Sorry for most of you, but stays are not too easy to organise otherwise...
Yet Welcome on the Rock, as Japanese say the closest place to heaven! "le Caillou" in French is our local New Caledonia's nickname.
My boat Zivio is hoping for for a massive haul-out and a major refit, inboard engine change and complete paint job!
She is a 1963' 42" traditional wooden yawl, a two mast sailboat with the aft mast standing slightly behind the rudder, work has been started last year in January, but there is still lot to do!
Thanks to many great helpers cabins and cockpit are now looking great and even if space is limited it feels nice and comfy. By now her hull is looking dull as paint is peeling away, but I've already made her pretty and this goes nicely with a bit of energetic work.
Else, I've got to change the inboard diesel engine, repaint it all around and then refit all hull water inlet to make it more secure. Of course this is a tremendous task, but for who wishes to know both sides of any world sailing experience, you shall be fully welcome if you wish to help me out!
For who wishes to stay onboard, I'm comfortable with either short weekend requests or long term ones.
I do require people who already have a know-how to hold a paintbrush or a screw driver, or more...
As your leisure time and discovering the island, there is fishing gear, kayak a dinguy, snorkeling equipment and a good contact with other neighboring boats around, so plenty opportunities to get around and relax on the days off!
Cheers, hopping to have you onboard for a while,
    Paul

Just to let you know, I'm French, so do please write in French if you are French speaking too... if not, I'll be pleased to use English, and can understand & read Spanish, Italian & basic German.

Else, I've been living on my sailboat, a 42' classic mahogany yawl (meaning 13m a main and a mizen masts) with main and aft cabin in front of Noumea heart center, just out of the harbor, and go and return rowing on a little dinghy.
Port Moselle is a very nice and quiet place, and very practical to visit Noumea and as a starter and back point for a New Caledonia trip.
My boat isn't a lodge, so do not expect too much comfort or private space, for girls I usually free the aft cabin so you do have your personal room. Showers are warm and onshore & there are toilets onboard too.
    Sea U soon!
    Paul

I've crossed the Pacific twice, once from Panama to French Polynesia, then New Caledonia, and this year (2016) from Japan to Alaska, part of it single hander (meaning as just alone ;-) !).
I'm a pro diver and marine biologist, I love the ocean, and biodiversity, so I can tell you tons of lifes stories and I love to share and know more about my guests, and other countries and cultures.
I started sailing as I was 3yo, and I owned a boat for 20 years, so I've quite a good knowledge on boat maintenance and I really appreciate to share it! I'm a good teacher as long as the person is meticulous.
I've been living on my sailboat, a 42' classic mahogany yawl (meaning 13m a main and a mizen masts) in front of Noumea heart center, Zivio si anchored just out of the harbor, and we go back and forth rowing in small tender boat called a dinghy.
Port Moselle is a very nice and quiet place, and very practical to visit Noumea and as a starter and back point for a New Caledonia trip.
I like simple food, but from the compliments I've had from my different crew, they liked what I usually prepared, and I love hosting so usually any time out of work is nice and pleasant.
So, feel welcome to contact me if you have any interest in it, I do have regular requests, so I’m really willing to help with who is thrilling to learn more about sailing and boaters’ life!
    Sea U Zen !
