    Description

Hello! We are Joahl (29), Paloma (27), Alakai (3) and Makoa (0), a young family who just moved to the Alpujarra and are looking for some help on our land! We are very new to the off grid life so we have a lot to learn but we are very eager to get things going. We are looking for enthusiastic people, for all sorts of jobs on the land. We want to start a permaculture vegetable garden, plant some trees, clear the land, and get some hens, amongst other activities.

We live a 15 minute drive away from Órgiva. A hippie town that is full of life and people from all over the world. Our Cortijo is in a peaceful and perfectly remote location! We are surrounded by stunning mountain views and beautiful sounds of nature.

This is the perfect place to connect to the land, get some headspace, meditate, explore, meet interesting people and immerse yourself in what our natural environment has to offer you. It’s a truly magical place that we can’t wait to share with you!

Paloma is a traditional birth worker, postpartum keeper, women’s ceremony facilitator and artist.

Joahl a musical artist, hearty cook and spiritual being with a particular interest in healing childhood trauma.

We are an unschooling family with a passion for re-wilding our lives. We aim to live outside of the conventional systems as much as possible and are eager to exchange skills and knowledge, and to learn from all the connections we make! Hopefully you will also leave having gained something from us that can add to your experience.

After travelling for many years and having experienced many different cultures we have finally found our home in the foothills of the impressive Sierra Nevada mountains.

We chose this place because we instantly fell in love with this house and the surrounding areas. Only 15 minutes drive away we have the lively Spanish town of Órgiva. Which attracts people from all walks of life. Full of alternative, spiritual, creative and fun activities. You will meet all sorts of interesting people that will be sure to leave an impression. There is plenty to do and see here.

We do recommend that you have your own car for the most freedom, but plenty of people also hitchhike and we are happy to give you a lift when we can.

  • Help

    Help

Ideally, we are looking for a couple, with knowledge on permaculture to help us start up a vegetable garden.

But other areas of help include:
    - Clearing bushes and branches on the land
    - Pruning olive trees
    - Painting the inside of the house
    - Planting fruit trees
    - Building a hen coop
    - Help with cooking or chores around the house
    - Helping hand with childcare / educational activities ( unschooling our 3 year old) (Assistance only, not sole carers of the children)

We are open to also hearing about your offerings! We love to connect with likeminded people. So if you are interested in joining us and are able to help with any of these or can think of another way to contribute, then please reach out!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We currently have a spare room in our house with a double bed (200cmx160cm). Perfect for a couple or two friends willing to share a bed. (If you have a child that sleeps with you, that is also welcome)
You will have use of shared bathroom and kitchen facilities and a spacious living room with wood burning stove.

We expect workawayers to help out with meals, clearing after themselves and keeping their room clean. We are very easy going and would want you to feel comfortable here! Open communication is key.

There is also the possibility to park up with your own camper on the land, and still be able to use bathroom and kitchen facilities if you need to.

We do ask that in the late hours you keep noise to a minimum as we have two young children that need to sleep. But of course you are welcome to go out at night as much as you want.

This is an *alcohol free* home, so we expect our guests to respect this. Please don’t come home having been drinking.

    *Food*

Meals offered will depend on the amount of hours the workawayers will work.

If you are coming to work 5 hours a day 5 days a week then we will supply you with all meals. (Cooking/prepping meals will be a shared activity between workawayers and ourselves).

If you are coming to work for under 15 hours a week we are happy to share a few meals with you here and there but the bulk of your meals you will have to source yourself.

But you are welcome to use the kitchen to cook.
