Description
Am a widower with a 17-year old daughter who is presently studying in Malaysia. I live in a comfortable apartment building. I do work some mornings.
I really would like to learn Spanish, recover some Greek and improve my German as well as work on my fitness.
My apartment is comfortable, well-ventilated and has most amenities. Air conditioning, water heater, washing machine, dish-washer, wi-fi etc.
I live at one end of the city but there are buses, auto-rickshaws (tuk-tuks) and taxis readily available.
Bhubaneswar is a historical city with a huge number of old temples dating back to the 7th-13th centuries. There are also a few rock cut caves and rock paintings dating more than 20,000 years as well as Jain-period and Ashokan sites from the 2nd-4th centuries BC.
Bhubaneswar is mostly a planned city, other than in the old town. So streets are wide and it is quite green.
I live about 5km from the airport, 7 from the railway station and about 4km from the main bus-stand (for long-distance buses). The city abuts a forest sanctuary and has quite a few parks, 2 large horticultural gardens and a major zoological garden. Most things are easily available in the city and there are quite a few restaurants serving exotic fare.
The closest beach area is about 55km away (Puri, Konark area) and Chilka Lake is also about 60 km away.
Medical facilities are excellent both traditional Ayurvedic as well as Western medicine.Types of help and learning opportunities

I can teach some cooking, spoken Italian and French, spoken English (am pretty good at all 3). Can also take the person around town and, once in a while, out of town. Can guide them to various cultural groups in the city (music and dance). Also can arrange interactions with various tribal groups of Orissa (arts and crafts).

Help
Would expect a bit of help in the house... cooking... I usually cook... someone who can keep my daughter company once in a while and eventually, teach her something, someone who can help me improve my languages and finally someone to goad me into fitness again.

Air-conditioned room. Separate bathroom. As I said earlier, I usually cook. Would appreciate some help there. We would also eat out once in a while.
What else ...
As mentioned above, there is a lot to do and see here. I have hosted a number of people earlier through other sites and I think they all enjoyed themselves.
Since we live in an apartment building, loud music is a no-no, smoking only allowed on the balcony. Absolutely no drugs. Other than that would expect a certain degree of cleanliness. Cannot accomodate pets, though both my daughter and I love animals. Am also involved in tree-planting together with various NGOs.
I am a newbie host on workaway, so not yet really clear about some things. Have often hosted travellers using other platforms.
We are not vegans or even vegetarians, but we are open to try anything as long as our nutritional requirements are fulfilled. Don't really know much about vegan cooking...you would have to give us pointers..A little more information
